Shortcuts not working after update

hello, this is a bug idk how to get the logs if it even the logs will show anything, everything was working perfectly but lately the spacebar/ mouse button 3 / scroll wheel/ rotation by shortcut/ etc does not work anymore i have to restart krita to be able to make it work again

i download krita from the original krita webpage
windows 11
acer nitro 17
ryzen 7
nvidia rtx 4050

There’s a similar report in this topic:
Undoing multiple times in a row using my tablet buttons causes panning shortcuts to stop working?

Which version of krita are you using? (Do Help → About Krita)

Help → Show Krita log for bug reports.
The file is at C:\Users\{username}\AppData\Local\krita.log

It’s best to share it using a file download service or a pastebin. It can be quite long.

Do you mean that it stops working after a certain amount of time during which it does work?
If so, does anything in particular make it stop working?

the latest version 5.3.1

i do not know how to replicate the situation entirely, i wish i knew

here are the logs

I can’t see anything in the log which looks unusual or a problem.

Does it happen after a certain amount of time of using krita with no problem?

Does it happen after doing multiple Undo actions (as noted in the other topic)?

Can you fix it by doing a few ‘Undo then Redo’ actions (as noted in the other topic)?

i definetly have krita open all day (around 8h a day) it happens after a while of using it and it is very odd i haven found any pattern per se, might be after repeated fast ctrl-z?

That is a possibility because repeated use of Undo will require RAM to store data to let you perform an Undo later.
That raises the question of how much RAM your computer has, how much you have allocated to krita, within krita, and how much your document is using.
Don’t set the RAM allocation too high because your operating system also needs RAM to work.
Also, in situations like this, it’s a good idea to not run any other applications when using krita.
Hovering the cursor over the combined canvas size and RAM meter, on the status bar will give you details of that.

Anyway, you can try the following to see if the sutuation improves:
Go to Settings -> Configure Krita -> General group -> Miscellaneous tab.
There are the Undo stack size options and settings.

The simplest one is the Undo stack size value. The larger that number is, the more Undo actions can be stored and so the more Redo actions you can perform. i.e. the further you can go back in time.
If it has a very large value, try reducing it by half or even more, then see if the behaviour improves.

Enabling Use cumulative undo will also have a similar effect but is more complicated and I’ve never used it. The Advanced button gives the options for that and a short explanation.
You might want to try enabling it to see if it helps.

If you set Undo stack size to be too small or the Use cumulative undo Advanced options to be too fierce then you will not have the ability to go far back in time with Undo.

i have 32gb ddr5 i will do these changes and let you know

also i think i should inform i change to linux fedora 44 and i haven’t experience that situation anymore (so far)

So you used to use the Windows installed package of 5.3.1.
Now, are you using the 5.3.1 appimage or an installed version ‘X’ from the Fedora repository?

yes, i am using the appimage from the oficial webside, not the repository

32GB of RAM is a very generous amount to operate in and would give 16GB of RAM for krita to use even with the 50% default settings.
I can’t think why a change from Windows installed to Linux appimage should make a difference.
It’s probably a change from Windows to Linux that is significant.
If it happens again, please try the Undo settings adjustments as I suggested before.

okay, thanks, i wish i could explain better what is happening, i move away from windows because its windows, and it didn’t mess with my workflow (since i already work with opensource programs) anyway thanks, if i can replicate the issue i will let you know
