Simple Still Life

Still very much a beginner to digital painting but thought I’d get started sharing early. Feedback welcome!

I still haven’t really mastered layers / selection / masks so I’'ve ended up with some messy edges. Any tutorial suggestions around that would be much appreciated.

Like that good work

So if you have the time could you explain how you did do the shapes? I struggle a lot since the drawings are transparent when the “paint” is thin. I usually either make the shape out of any color and then lock it but it seems very inefficient.

I’m pretty new to krita so I’m not sure what the best method is. But I painted the fruit as black and white values first, then used a colour layer to block on solid colours. Then another layer on top of that with the watercolor. The background is applied to an inverse selection of the fruit, so under the fruit is actually just white.

Well Done!

Thanks for the reply. Look at my drawings sometime and you will see how sharp the edges are, something I’m not happy with so I started making a duplicate copy underneath the shapes and then blur the copy to get a softer edge, then I combine the shapes together.
