This is my second attempt to draw color in a realistic way, rather than flat style. This time I’m recreating a cloudy sky which contains quite a lot of color blocks.
I think myself kind of getting used to drawing lines, while not so good at drawing color blocks. I wonder if it’s still correct for color blocks that “draw what you have seen”. What’s your opinion about this?
For stuff like the clouds I would just draw what I see. Probably there are some techniques to make it easier to paint and get a good looking effect, but I’m lacking the experience to comment.
I’ve been watching a few Makoto Shinkai movies recently (yep, I’m late) and I’m completely in love with the backgrounds and all the various environment shots, they are just beautiful. I need to try to paint something like that for my next illustration
