Thank you!! I fixed it, it works!! :heart_eyes_cat:
For those who couldn’t fix it yet:

  • I uninstalled the play store beta version
  • I got an earlier version (5.2.3) from krita.org and downloaded that one through the browser. Make sure to check your APK properly though.
Seems to work just fine :)) Older version but still good and better than nothing. <3

Hi,all!

Please try the nightly package after this job has finished. The nightly package will be uploaded into this folder. (Currently, there is an older package dated by 2am 27th)

If you can run this package, then check this other package:
krita-arm64-v8a-5.2.7-a5da7599-nightly.apk — Яндекс Диск

Please report which package you can run and which you cannot.

Same here. Hit the shortcut and it crashes without even trying to open. Galaxy 7 FE.

you brightened my day thank you so much!

Did you try the new package linked in the reply above?

@Selk … Marc just made the link that opens the Google files app. That Files app by Google was on Android devices all along but simply hidden.

Hi

In Google Play Store, search for Krita…scroll down and you can see Beta…if you select leave Beta, you need to uninstall and reinstall the app.

I think the settings will be lost…

ANd once you reinstall, it is 5.2.3 version…

Go to Google play store and remove yourself from beta testing. Then go to

Krita 5.2.3 Released! | Krita

Then select your system version for whatever device you’re running. Snapdragon processor is arm based technology. So for myself, using a Tab S8+, I downloaded the 64 bits Arm CPU APK. Everything works just like it did.

Unfortunately, you will be starting from scratch so you will have to reconfigure your Krita settings and workspaces all over again if you made any changes before. :expressionless:

I can confirm, that this nightly build works. I could start krita again. but is it just me or is the text size bigger than before?

I don’t know how other brands are. But in the case of Samsung, when uninstalling, it allows you to save all the data off the app and when reinstalling, everything is as it was.

I may try with a Oneplus pad, but in about 9 hours when I get home.

Yes, you can save all the data when uninstalling on Android. The user just has to add the checkmark for that option during the uninstall process.

i have the s9 ultra and SAME ISSUE… im dying here. i got so much work i need to get done and im even hunting for another program for in the mean time and now luck

Do the solutions in this thread not work for you, @oKitastrophe ?

not that ive found yet. could be user error but im going back and forth

There is a problem with the last update that just went out, so that part is not user error.

If you decide to uninstall Krita to reinstall an older version, please remember to add a checkmark in the box that asks if you want to save your data. No one seems to be reading this part of the instructions here and on reddit.

Oh, and the adress to download the apk

Hello,
I’ve been using krita on android for a few weeks now but it won’t open and kept sending the message you mentioned.
Before trying your method, I just wanted to ask : you sayed that your autosaves were still accessible, by that, do you mean your .kra files ? My worries are that once i uninstall the app, krita won’t be able to open them anymore.
Here is the thing, I transfered my .kra files to another device with krita installed earlier but they won’t open. ( to note that i don’t know how the desktop version is supposed to work )

I might repeat myself here but i just wanted to ask:
1- were you able to access ALL of your files without any problem after deleting the app to install an older version ?
2- did you use some tricks so they wouldn’t get deleted once you uninstall the app ?
3- does the app still crashes sometimes while using the older version ?

I have some very important projects there, that’s why I can’t take the risk without knowing the outcome.

Thank you in advance!
