I do too but I am OK now on my computer. I am getting used to Brave browser and quite liking it.
Why use brave browser when you can just grab firefox stable from flatpak or the compiled tarballs from mozilla ftp? And I’m on firefox-esr myself on debian, I didn’t even know there was a message on this website at all.
Flatpak takes up far too much space on my puny chromebook. I haven’t a clue how to install “compiled tarballs” whatever they are. I have already said twice that firefox-esr is the only version I can install on this computer and I can’t help the fact that I am getting this message on this site. I am using Brave now and I am very happy with it.
Do what you must. But to answer your question, you don’t have to compile it from source if getting it straight from mozilla themselves. They build it for you and you can just extract the tarball (It’s like zip, but more common on unix like systems) and double click the executable. That’s all there is to it.
I feel the same way. I really need a real computer instead of this wretched Chromebook, then I can have better choices!

For some reason I got a notice concerning this thread today but the last post was May 2025. It has been a long time and I forgot to mention I got a new Windows computer early this year and have been using that with Firefox. This can be marked “solved” and put to rest but I don’t know how to.
I tried changing the topic category to one that should have a ‘Solution’ checkbox available but that doesn’t seem to have worked.
I also changed the title details and added [SOLVED] to it..
