I will probably have to say goodbye because Firefox ESR will soon be incompatible with this community according to the banner. I cannot use any other versions on my Bullseye VM and my Chromebook does not have enough space to upgrade the VM. Developers so often just bulldoze ahead with their swanky schemes assuming that everybody has the capacity to follow. Sadly not all of us do. I can sign in to other forums still, just not KA forum.
What banner? Never heard of Firefox ESR before.
It is the LTS version of Firefox, like the same child with a different name.

Can Chromebook not run an up to date Firefox or one of its forks, like Floorp?
If you have an up to date browser, you won’t see the banner but it says “Your browser will soon be incompatible with this community. To keep participating here, please upgrade your browser.”
I am using a Debian Bullseye VM, and Bullseye is out of date so ESR is the only version of Firefox I have been able to use, or there was some other reason I could only use ESR.
OK, I have downloaded Brave browser and I will give that a spin and see if I can get used to it. The forum seems to accept it as up to date.
That’s so annoying! I’ve had to stop using SeaMonkey on Windows for this forum because of that nonsense. (SeaMonkey is the original Mozilla browser, just renamed. I like it’s interface so much better.) So far, Opera is working nicely on Android 14.
I still prefer Firefox and have some issues with Brave but it is easier to manage than I thought it would be. Shame it’s just a version of Chrome. I will never trust Google’s claims of privacy. It will do for now though.
Floorp is a fork of Firefox but without the AI and data collecting Mozilla built in recently, as well as LibreWolf which is even more strict in terms of security. If someone wants a browser that is not just chrome with a different icon.
@Erisian I was reading your post and then glanced to the top of the screen to see the same notice from my browser! So infuriating.
But the only version of Firefox that I can install doesn’t upgrade regularly so it doesn’t have the ability to use the new functions.
You can try to send a spoofed user-agent, like Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:137.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/137.0, by using one of the available user agent switching tools. This claims that your browser is the fake one without this being the case.

Floorp would have been a great idea but it won’t install using apt and I avoid flatpak like the plague because of the amount of space it uses.
I have removed ESR now and am getting used to Brave. If I can find a way of installing standard firefox or floorp i will do so. I can download a .deb file but I have no way of unpacking it.
Have you considered using a PPA or mozilla’s repository? Mozilla keeps their own apt repository:
I have seen that barrage of terminal text and it is too much faffing around. They ought to make it more simple.
You just copy and paste it, then hit enter after each one.
It can probably be simplified into a single sh script I guess.
