I turned on stabilization and it’s only making sharp lines. When I try to make a line round round it automatically becomes spiked. How can I fix this?
Hello @sabbath and welcome to the forum ![]()
You need to provide more information so that people can offer help and advice about this.
Which version of krita are you using?
Which operating system are you using?
Are you drawing with a mouse or a graphics tablet?
If it’s a tablet, which make and model of tablet is it?
Lots more information can be easily provided by uploading a full screen screenshot showing the ‘sharp lines’ that are being made so please do that.
You should have the Tool Options docker fully visible when you take that screenshot.
“Which version of krita are you using? Which operating system are you using?” How do I find out both of these things? I’m very new to this
Krita version 5.1.5, 64 bit windows, and I’m drawing with a Wacom cintiqe 16 (please let me know if I misunderstood) it worked normal at first but I clicked a button in krita and it started doing the sharp lines. I don’t remember what button
Change Brush Smoothing from Stabilizer back to basic.
You have Brush Smoothing set to Stabiliser and have a large delay setting which gives that surrounding circle.
If you change direction a lot then the change will not take effect until you move the cursor outside the delay circle and so you’ll get a sharp change in direction.
The way to use that particular setting is to gently drag it without making sudden changes in direction.
But I want to use stabilization I just don’t want th sharp lines anymore
You could try the Weighted option or be more gentle with changes in direction
When I turn stabilization up the lines turn sharper
Is there a way to just reset all of the stabilization settings?
There is no “stabilisation” setting to “turn up”.
There is ‘Sample Count’ and ‘Delay’ with the Stabiliser option.
Unless you spend time and effort in learning to understand how the ‘Stabiliser’ setting works and how it affects the drawn lines, you’re better off using ‘Basic’ or ‘Weighted’’ as the Brush Smoothing option.
There is the ‘None’ setting.
I’m sorry but I really don’t think you understand my problem. There was a button I clicked that’s making the stabilization weird but I don’t remember what button it was so I would like to know how I can reset the stabilization settings back to default to undo whatever I did.
You have selected ‘Stabiliser’ as the Brush Smoothing option.
You need to select None to get back to default settings:
You could try unchecking the Delay checkbox, maybe. I don’t know if simply restarting Krita resets the tool settings.
That worked Tysm!
If you don’t use the delay option then Weighted is perhaps the better smoothing setting for you.
Here’s more information about what every smoothing setting does
