Stop Gender-Based Violence (Baby, its cold inside)

Stop Gender-Based Violence (Baby, it’s cold inside).
November 25th is the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, but few know that this important date is part of a broader international campaign called '16 Days of Activism against Gender Violence ’ which begins on 25 November and ends on 10 December, the World Human Rights Day. This year in particular (2020), reports of domestic violence have increased exponentially due to the pandemic lockdown. For many women and girls what should be a warm shwlter to heal from everyday problems together with their partners has become a cold and painful prison with no chance to escape from, hence the title that recalls a famous song from the 1950s criticized for its allegedly sexist texts.
Gender-based violence is unacceptable. Talk about it, spread the word, report abuses, use your talent - whatever it is - do whatever you want but do it, help us stop it. A subject very close to my heart. The trouble is, every time I have reported cases up to now, the victim has told the police that nothing was happening and the the police came to my door and verbally attacked me for calling them. It doesn’t exactly encourage people to try and be helpful. I hope that campaigns like this will teach young women not to accept such treatment and to finish the relationship as soon as they see it coming. Sadly, I don’t see any other solution. The police are utterly reprehensible in these situations!

If everyone is interested, May be we can turn this topic in a art challenge? A4 or A3 posters in creative commons share alike license would be cool to contribute.

I can understand that. It happens in my country too, Italy. We have a high rate of domestic violence and often the victims act as you said. It’s not something that people would normally do but it’s fully relatable. The women that reported abuses are left alone and they still have to live with their abusers if they don’t have any other place to go. Even in that case they get no protection, and the only thing they know for sure is that they pissed off their abuser and he will come to get her, that’s why they choose to keep it quiet and say they just ‘fell off the stairs’.
As you said ‘I hope that campaigns like this will teach young women not to accept such treatment and to finish the relationship as soon as they see it coming’ but most of all that it will make’em understand that they’re not alone, that there are safe places and nice people who try to make this end once for all.
Thank you for your comment, every single voice makes the difference.

I absolutely like it.
I propose to give some kind of acknowledgment to the artists who contribute to make them understand how important is to be involved, even with a little drawing. I’m thinking about something simple, like a special badge. I don’t consider it a prize because there’s nothing to win in this sad topic just a way to say ‘thank you, you did something good’

Yes a badge should be doable from the forum software. I think.

That’s a great idea. It would be really good to be able to contribute something positive to such an important issue.
