Hello, recently I’ve been running into a problem with my Ctrl prompts. I found that I was unable to tab between my Krita windows, as each time I tried it would just send me back to the first I started in. Upon looking into it, I diagnosed it as a general input problem, and opted to just rebind the Window controls. However, upon going into my shortcuts menu to do so, I found a peculiar error. No matter what button I press to set as my shortcut, keeps registering a “Ctrl+Shift+[button pressed],Ctrl+Shift+…”, as if I’m pressing Ctrl+Shift twice in between my bind. This prevents me from binding anything in the program, and I’m also suspicious it’s what’s causing me to be unable to tab the windows.
I would also like to note that my other programs such as Firefox are not having this error, it happens exclusively for Krita. This is such a strange bug, and I have no idea how to approach fixing it, so any help would be appreciated.
(Below listed is an example of the bug: I tried to bind Next to the A key, by pressing it once on my keyboard.)
Which version of krita are you using and where did you get it from?
Which operating system and version are you using?
Do you mean that you are using sub-windows presentation of different documents inside a krita main window, or do you have multiple main krita windows createds with Window → New Window?
The usual way to switch between sub-windows or tabbed document presentation is Ctrl+Tab. Is that what you initially tried to do?
Are you using WeChat or QQ or similar applications at the same time as krita?
Those are known to cause strange problems with Ctrl and other modifier keys.
Can you use Ctrl+Space + mouse click drag to zoom a document?
Can you use Shift+Space + mouse click drag to rotate a document?
Can you use Ctrl + mouse click to pick a colour from a document?
Are you using any kind of keyboard remapper application?
I had no difficulty in binding ‘A’ to Next. Those Ctrl+Shift keypresses are coming into krita from outside of krita.
I mean tabbing between documents, yes. I don’t use WeChat or QQ with Krita, but do have Discord open sometimes (though this hasn’t caused issues before, I’m not ruling Discord out as a potential suspect due to it’s frequent updates.)
Also, as far as the shortcuts you mentioned go, I can perform all of these shortcuts with no issue. I also do not use keyboard remapping software (at least as far as I’m aware anyway).
I am also suspicious the inputs are coming outside of Krita, I just don’t know where I would begin to diagnose where, as it happens on none of my other programs.
Another possibility is some kind of fancy gaming mouse or similar device that has its own driver to make it work.
That could include a graphics tablet that has a malfunctioning driver or incorrectly setup configuration.
If so, the way to test is to disconnect the devices at first to see if that changes the situation.
The next stage would be to uninstall the drivers (and do full power down restart) to see if that helps. That is a time consuming and inconvenient process.
