TailTales is looking for volunteer artists

A cozy social MMO & transmedia world about red pandas, community, absurd humor and a very suspicious island.

Official notice from Red Tail:

We are currently looking for artists.

Please ignore the note that appeared on top of this document.

“We’re building an island and somehow ran out of artists before we ran out of coconuts.”

Hello everyone!

We are Bonemelt Studios, an independent team currently developing TailTales, a cozy social MMO and transmedia universe centered around community, adventure, slice-of-life comedy, expressive characters, strange mysteries and a tropical island that slowly becomes a home for those who never quite fit into rigid systems.

TailTales is not just an idea.

The project already has:

• Official registered intellectual property and studio identity
• A playable multiplayer prototype in active development
• 3+ months of continuous development
• An official website
• A large Lore Bible and worldbuilding framework
• A growing cast of recurring characters
• Character OST concepts
• Short comic/gag format called #TailSnaps
• Plans for comics, illustrated stories and narrative events
• Showcase goals for EVA Argentina 2026 and Valhalla Mexico

We are currently looking for volunteer artists who would like to help shape the visual future of TailTales.

We are especially interested in:

• Character artists
• Environment / background artists
• Comic artists
• Concept artists
• Prop and item designers
• Storyboard / animatic artists
• Illustrators who enjoy expressive, stylized characters and cozy whimsical worlds

This is currently a volunteer collaboration, since TailTales is still in early indie development. However, all contributors will be properly credited, and our goal is to build a serious, portfolio-worthy project with long-term transmedia potential.

We are not looking for people to simply “make assets.”

We are looking for artists who enjoy building worlds, shaping characters, creating visual humor, emotional moments, small stories and memorable scenes.

TailTales includes:

• MMO social game development
• Comics and short gags
• Illustrated slice-of-life stories
• Character-driven music projects
• Future animated and narrative content
• A living world designed to grow over time

If you are interested, please reply with:

• A short introduction
• Your portfolio or examples of your work
• What type of art you would like to help with
• Your availability or preferred level of involvement
• Any experience with comics, games, animation or visual storytelling

Thank you for reading.

We are building TailTales slowly, carefully and with a lot of heart.

Please help us draw the island before I accidentally design another bridge using coconuts."

Some Art Examples from the Game.

When I look it up online, neither your studio nor the mentioned websites(s) seem to actually exist.

Facebook has an absolutely empty page for a wannabe company named “Bonemelt Studios” since 16th February 2023 and on GitHub you can find another boneless site of a “Bonemelt Studios” named thing.
That’s not the way to inspire confidence.

Hi!

That’s a fair observation.

Bonemelt Studios is currently a very small independent team and most of our work so far has been focused on development rather than public presence.

TailTales has been under active development for the past few months, including a playable multiplayer prototype, worldbuilding, infrastructure and internal production tools.

We agree that our public-facing channels still need a lot of work, and improving them is one of our current priorities.

Thank you for pointing it out.

Hi!

Thank you for taking the time to look into the project.

TailTales does have an official website at https://tailtales.net, although most of its content is currently available in Spanish and we’re still working on improving both the site and our overall public presence.

We’re a very small independent team, and most of our effort so far has gone into development rather than marketing. At the moment, TailTales already has a playable multiplayer prototype, active development, internal production tools, an extensive lore framework, and ongoing work on both the game and its transmedia content.

You can also find our community links and additional information through the official website.

That said, your feedback is genuinely helpful. Comments like yours make it clear that we need to improve how easily people can discover information about the project from the outside.

Thanks again for taking the time to check it out!

Oops, now you were faster than me, but okay, you had an advantage …

But I guess you will dislike the existence of a TTRPG of the name Tail Tales.

This page you will know and this one probably too. (You know them).

Michelist

Yeah, thats our itch.io page and our official game page too, we don’t have problems with the TTRPG, can fix it later. Actually we prefer focus on development.

While it would be nice to help out, it is still overall a suspicious call for help. Would be probably worth it to mention Spanish lang requirement, since there’s no eng translations for your site at all. I understand they might not be required to talk to the team, but if the main things available on the project are es-only, well… that’s not good. Harder to find anything about the project, learn about the team, etc.

Yeah, that’s a fair point.

We are currently working on the English version of the website. Most of the project material is still in Spanish because the team is mainly Spanish-speaking, but we can communicate in English when needed.

You’re also right that the lack of English information makes the project harder to understand from the outside, especially for artists who want to know what they would be joining. We’re taking that feedback seriously and will be improving the public information about the project, the team, and the current development status.

Thanks for pointing it out.

When this volunteering will be closed?

When we get at least 3 volunteers willing to help, or when the post closes naturally within a month, whichever comes first.

Thanks for Reaching us!

If I volunteer what exactly would I do?

Hi! Thanks for asking. For now, we would start with something small and clearly defined, like concept sketches, character ideas, props, or visual support for TailTales. Before anything, we would agree on the task, scope, credit, and how the work would be used, so everything stays clear and comfortable for both sides.

I am interested, but still kind of new to Krita… :face_without_mouth:

That’s understandable, but you don’t need to worry about that; no one is born knowing everything. If you have the willingness to help, that is more than enough.

I mean I’m not super good

As I said, you don’t need to worry; for us, the willingness to help is enough.

For the record, I’m not great at drawing characters (anatomy, furries, hands, etc.). But that’s fine, since I’m also a visual director and handle room design and some programming.
