I think at the very beginning (couple hours back when I tried this for the first time) I could change the size with Shift + drag, but maybe my mind is playing tricks on me…
Anyway, the only option to change the size of text is actually going into brush editor Brush Tip → Text → Font Selector (3 dots after Font tab) → Size. Which is totally unusable, because I used to vary the brush size manually pretty much ALWAYS.
I found only some similar problem here https://www.reddit.com/r/krita/comments/185db6f/krita_wont_let_me_change_brush_size_does_anyone/ but it’s not useful, only showing the problem.
Am I the only one who faces this issue, and anybody can change the size of text brush?
I’m on windows, and actually cleared the whole config (settings → reset all settings; settings → open resource folder → close krita → delete whole resource folder). Not helped.
Tested on 5.3.0 beta 1 and 5.2.15
As far as I remember this, it was never possible to adjust the text brush tip size using the SHIFT + Drag shortcut. I always had to adjust it very carefully to the context I used it in. And that is probably due to the nature of this very special kind of brush-tip.

Workaround for now is to make a screenshot of a painted text stamp and use it as a pattern.
But I believe this would be much more useful to be able to change the size with the shortcut and toolbar. Maybe something like a hook on brush size px set by user → stopped at 154.3px or whatever → remap to match the relative font size → set new size programmatically.
Alternatively just allow to set the px value by shortcuts?
