Text tool cannot add text to the layer? [Krita 5.2.2]

Hi,
I have a problem that the text tool is not working when I attempt to add text to the layer by clicking and dragging. If I drag the mouse in somewhat bigger size, the tool pop up appears, but still I cannot add the text.

Here is a gif image as a description of the problem

Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance!

Joseph

[Additional info.]
I’m using 2 monitors, one as the main display, and the other as a graphics tablet
(Model - Huion KAMVAS 22).
Krita is mainly laid on the second one.

Could you also post a screenshot of your Krita window with the layers and tool options visible? It’s hard to make out any details.

I don’t know why your text tool is only popping up with a larger selection, but when adding text, you have to save it. Closing the window makes it cancel what you wrote.

Try making the text tool window smaller, write something, and click on save

Thanks for the reply.
I was attempting to edit the post with follow up images,
but got a “422 error” from the website which kinda forbids me doing so XD

As an alternative, I’ll post’em here…

<Image to describe - And still, no text!>

Thanks again!

Hi, thanks for the reply.
I have already tried that but unfortunately that didn’t work.

Hi, thanks for the reply.
The file has been already saved, and I’ve also tried shrinking the window down.
Unfortunately that didn’t work well.

In case if you are interested, I’ve added more detailed screenshots describing the problem in the Reply comment to @Rebecca .

Thanks again!

That save button is not the “file save” button, though.

Yes I’m aware of that.
I’ve tried both solutions - saving the file, and pressing the save button on the text editor.
Thanks.

Joseph

Try to fully minimize the edit text window (on the - button) after you write something and save it, and post a picture.

I’m confused. It should show “placeholder text” even after closing the editor right away.

Are the blending modes of all the other layers set to normal, too?

Yup! they are all set to normal.
It’s quite weird that I’m not even getting “placeholder text” on the layer.
Instead, if I try to use "Transform Editor (Ctrl + T) on the layer after that,
it starts to lag for a while applying the transform Xq

Thanks for the reply.

I also noticed you’re working directly in sRGB IEC61966-2.1 color profile, that’s quite an unusual pick. I doubt it has something to do with the problem but just out of curiosity, could you try adding text in a file that has the default color space which is sRGB-elle-V2-srgbtrc.icc

Wouldn’t that be irrelevant as the layer with the text is fully at top?

There is a behind and a before blending mode which changes the rendering order, that’s why I asked.

Thanks for the reply,
Unfortunately that didn’t work

So you cant create text even in a completely different Krita file? Hm, something must be really wrong then.

I have edited the text, pressed the save button,
but still I’m experiencing the problem.

You’re now using Clay-RGB as a color profile. You have to be very careful what you use there if you don’t want to get into issues with exporting images and color blending.

What DPI did you set for the image? Text size is calculated by DPI and maybe the text is so ginormosly large we can’t see it, (or tini tiny small). Would also explain the issues when you activate the transform tool.
