We can change the brush size using shift and moving the brush (or mouse) to left and right. However, this feature is invalid when it comes to lines and other shapes (rectangle, circle etc.) ? We still can change the brush size using the slider above but can’t do it practically using the shift combo.
What will happen to the feature which use Shift when using these tools for example
-
Rectangle tool - Holding shift and left click drag will draw a perfect square
-
ellipse tool - Similar shift + left click drag draws a perfect circle.
-
Line tool - snap to angle. however in this tool it is shift after starting the point.
How to resolve this conflict ?
Not using shift but another button? (which may necessitate to change the brush size shortcut but that’s life).
Do you mean not using shift for changing brush size or not using shift to draw perfect square or circle? Both will break muscle memory of people and I think drawing perfect circle and square and also changing brush size is more frequently done in painting than changing brush size when using these tools.
Shift is not the holy grail of buttons. So I think a second button alternative could be found and added for changing the brush size when using shapes (not during draw). (The shift+drag may remain for brush size when draw is selected but the others may be “”+drag mouse" for example. P.S. That “may remain” is only for the sake of muscle memory guys).
I agree there can be a second shortcut for resizing brush when using shapes and line drawing tools. May be an empty shortcut slot which can be set by users to whatever they like.
Yes, that would also not interfere with the habits. But firstly, that should be made possible. After that everyone can use whatever button combo they like.
