The Brown Door

The reference image is a picture by Viktor Mogilat in unsplash.

I don’t think that I’ll be doing another with so many leaves any time soon :grinning:. Took a long time to figure out how to get the textures that I wanted for the door and then a lot longer time to figure out how to paint the leaves. But I have to say that I learned a lot.

It’s beautiful. I bet it took a long time.

The leaves are very well painted :+1:

Thank you! Yes, it did take a while to make this painting, but hey, I’m retired so I have more time to spend on this! Krita is awesome.

Yeah. I did a bird like that once. LOL!

You’ve really got that looking 3D, nicely done!

You know what’s funny is that I actually thought about one of your bird pictures as I was painting all of the leaves. It was that amazing rooster picture or yours. You had a comment about how long it took to paint the feathers and comb. I really understood where you were coming from

Thanks! It’s interesting that you mentioned the 3D aspect. When I got through the first pass of painting the leaves on the right it was just completely covered with leaves. Looked okay, but it looked flat as a pancake, so I took the airbrush and a dark color and just started darkening some areas. That worked with the added happy accident that in the dark areas you can still make out the leaves which I thought gave it a lot of depth.

Oh, I see that; that is a very good tip to remember - thank you!
