This is an artwork I created as a final for one of my classes. My project theme is “familiar ideas, with an unexpected twist”, and the idea for this drawing was “the spirit of the water, but in the form of a woman”. Feedback is welcome.

The drawing looks great, but if your aim is to put a twist on the “spirit of water” trope, than I’m afraid making her a woman won’t meet that criterion. Lots of water ladies already exist in media, like the Lady of the Lake, the Undine, or even Juvia from “Fairy Tail.”

Thank you.

Also, I agree. Another subset of the idea was, “familiar ideas connected to seemingly unrelated ones”. The idea of a woman and the ocean are both familiar, yet “seemingly unrelated”, made connected through the artwork. Besides that, it’s not very twist-y as far as twists go.
Beautiful colors!
Thanks!
