The layer moving tool in 5.2.15 cannot be moved using the keyboard's directional keys

Operation steps:

  1. Select a layer (or a group of layers) in the layer panel, and then press the “Move Layer (T)” tool.
  2. Using the directional keys (up, down, left, right) on the keyboard to move the layer is no longer effective.
In version 5.2.14, this operation was able to move layers within the canvas, but it became invalid after 5.2.15. I have also tried 5.2.16 prealpha and 5.4.0 prealpha, and the same situation exists. Of course, I can also use the ‘transformation tool (Ctrl+T)’ to achieve the same goal, but this operation is still not as intuitive and convenient as before.
My Linux version is Krita *. appimage. Can this feature be restored in future versions?

At first, I wanted to confirm that I have the same problem, but then I thought it might be a good idea to look at the available options. I got it working again as follows:

In the Tool Options Docker, I had to toggle the Selection Mode once. I guess it does not matter between which of these three options you toggle:

  • Move current layer
  • Move layer with content
  • Move the whole group

But after I toggled once between:

  • Move current layer
  • Move layer with content

Now I’m able to use it again as before. Does it solve the issue for you too?

This is probably a regression caused by this fix here. So this is just a bug, not an intentional change.

Do you want to create a bug on the bugtracker yourself or should I do it? If you don’t have an account there already, the latter would probably be easier.

I don't have an account, could you please help me?

Thank you!

I have temporarily downgraded to version 5.2.14 and it works normally now. Thank you for your reply!

I’ve submitted a bug for it here: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=515703
