'This app can't run on your PC' error message

Hello! I’m very new to Krita - just downloaded today. When I try to open the programme after installing, I get an error message that says the app cannot run on my PC. I’ve tried restarting my device, I’ve tried uninstalling and reinstalling, I’ve tried troubleshooting compatibility/running older versions of Windows in compatibility mode. I’m not super good with tech so I’m out of ideas. A lot of suggestions I’ve seen online/on this forum relate to resetting configuration, but I don’t think I can do that as the error message shows up as soon as I click to open Krita.

I did see one post in which someone said that broken ICC files on a Lenovo can prevent Krita from opening, so I looked at my ICC files, but I have no idea how to tell if they’re broken or how to fix them.

I checked my security settings, because I thought my firewall may be blocking it from opening (it recently happened with another app), but I don’t think that’s the case here.

My specs:
Windows 10
64 bit OS
Processor: Snapdragon ™ 850 @ 2.96 GHz
Lenovo Yoga

Please let me know if there is more technical information I should provide.

Thanks so much!

 Hello and welcome to the forum @erose!

That sounds interesting and if I’m honest I have no idea what it could be, there must help you others. Only thing I can imagine would be your Antivirus, could you try to disable it for installation, if you got one?
But to help the other helpers with this question, you could tell them where you got Krita from.
Did you download Krita from the official download site and which version of Krita did you download? Or did you get it from the Microsoft store or Steam or Epic? If you didn’t get it from there, where did you download Krita from?

I think Windows 10 PCs using the Snapdragon processor are supposed to be able to run 32-bit Windows applications.
Can you download this and try to install it:

https://download.kde.org/stable/krita/4.4.3/krita-x86-4.4.3-setup.exe

That is the 32-bit Windows build of version 4.4.3 which is the final 32-bit build that was made.
If it works then it works but there have been bug fixes and improvemens since then.
If it does work, there may be strangeness due to running on a Snapdragon.
If it doesn’t work then it doesn’t work.
