Thumbnails for .kra files not showing up anymore on kde plasma fedora

I was today drawing and animating when i noticed that my .kra files no longer have thumbnails. I tested it and other file formats have them but not .kra files. Any help?

I guess your file manager may be broken.
Maybe you try it with this posting of mine, where I describe different methods to get Krita files with thumbnails:
via Krita plugins,
via fixing Dolphin and a link to the description on how to do it, if you should use it as your file manager,
via links to other possible solutions,
I guess you’ll find something that will help you further, and if not, then please report back and name the exact version of Krita and the kind of installation e.g. repo, Flat Hub, Steam, AppImage you use. Also describe briefly what you tried so far.

I went ahead and checked. Dolphin just stopped showing any thumbnails, while a different file manager (thunar in this example) showed other thumbnails but not kritas.

Im using app image btw

also, for some reason, krita wont allow me to use custom plugins? like… they dont show up?

Alright. I decided to screw this and reinstaleld my whole operating system. ANd guess what? it works now.

Hm, did you try the suggestion by @raghukamath on how to fix Dolphin:

Hm, you’re the first Linux user, that I can remember, who has issues to install a plugin into Krita?¿?
If there is not something horribly wrong with your Fedora installation, then I have to ask you, how did you try to install the plugins?
I’m asking because recently, more and more users are doing it wrong, try to open a plugin via “File” >> “Open”, or via Krita’s Resource Management System, be it via ‘‘Settings’’ >> ‘‘Manage Resource Libraries…’’ >> ‘’+ Import’’ or via ‘‘Settings’’ >> ‘‘Manage Resources…’’ >> ‘‘Import Resources’’, which is wrong.
And since it works perfectly fine to install a plugin using the AppImage, at least if you are doing it correctly:

You install plugins in Krita by clicking on “Tools” >> “Scripts” >> “Import Plugin from File” and in the dialog that opens, select the file you just downloaded, confirm the selection, then confirm Krita’s activation request and the message that the plugin is installed, and restart Krita.

If you missed letting Krita activate the plugin during the steps above:
Then you have to search in Krita under ‘‘Settings’’ >> ‘‘Configure Krita’’ >> ‘‘Python Plugin Manager’’ for the plugin you just installed and activate it by checking the box in front of it. Then confirm with “OK” and restart Krita a second time to be able to use the plugin.

Ahh, nice that it works now for you.

Then there is only one thing left, you should consider rewording or removing the last abbreviation from the posting before your last posting. This does not fit with our rules, and you should consider that we have users of every age from 13 to 99+, every gender, race, and culture, and there are good reasons to not use these words alone because of that.

Thank you very much!

i spoke to soon… thunar once again dosent show thumbnails… BUT, dolphin does so… idk?

also, the plugin. I did like the instructions. I pressed tools → scripts → import plugin from file. it got recognized. Hovewer, the tool didnt appear in tools. i went to python tab in setting and it was enabled by default, just… grayed out

You installed Buli Commander, right?
If so, then it may be needed to apply the patch I mentioned, or download the patched version from my cloud (I have just updated the defunct download link from my now defunct old file hosting service), that version works and will not be grayed out.

Here is the link to the patched version from my cloud, @Grum999 is enjoying the diaper roulette as a new father, and has probably not the time to publish the fixed version:

I’ll check it out when I can and send the results then
