Traditional Eastern Dragon


An attempt at a traditional style Eastern Dragon and trying out some watercolor- like affects. Constructive criticism is welcome, as well as any thoughts on improvement or technique tips.

The Second image has been updated as per constructive criticism, it does help bring the image together!

I really like the dragon and how detailed it is, but I would like to say that the background kills the contrast in the image. You can check the contrast by convert the image to grayscale image.

As you can see the values of background and the dragon are pretty close to each other.

I would suggest lowering the background value that would highlight the dragon some more.

P.S. A yellow tint and a paper texture on top of this would make it a nice Japanese Hokusai painting :slight_smile:

Thank you so much! The scales were a beast and they took me forever to do, let alone adding color afterwards…

This is incredible. You really captured the style you see of Dragons in the East, China, Korea, Japan, etc.
