I use Krita to make line drawings of things for making masks and templates. currently I use many many layers and trace over the image to get the information i want.
Does anyone know of a quick and much more effective method for extracting a basic line drawing of images such as photographs? It is so time consuming doing it my way.

To get a lineart representation of a photo you can try the Lineart filter in G’MIC.

It was an external filter-pack for Krita that is nowadays integrated in Krita, you’ll find it - guess where - under “Filters” in Krita.
It is a huge collection of the craziest effects and also of some not so crazy ones, but I love its possibilities. You’ll get hundreds of filters!
