Tutorial: How I sketch in Krita

• sooz: Yes, this way you did it is much more practical. I forgot to mention it in the tutorial. It also works this way: if you have a new file and don’t want to waste time configuring it… just open a file that contains the sketch groups and select them in the Layers docker.

Then, right-click on them and choose “Copy Layer”. Then you go to the new file and, in the Layers docker, choose “Paste Layer”: Krita will place the two groups there. I just tested it and it worked.

• AhabGreybeard: I assembled each page in Inkscape. The entire page, including the texts and image clippings, and made it a little smaller than A4. Then I select the entire page and export it as a png image. Once I have all the pages in png, I open Word and insert them all. Then I save it as a pdf.

I tested other ways and this was the one that worked. Inkscape supports multi-pages, but it leaves them side by side in the preview, which is hard to work with. And when I tried to export as a PDF, it only created a PDF of… one page.

• Manga Tengu: Yes, it’s cool to make tutorials. It doesn’t have to be about something very complicated: teaching a command or even a little-known filter or shortcut can make a big difference in an artist’s workflow.
