Unable to draw circular motions

hello, I just dowloaded krita a couple days ago and theres a bug that has been making me unable to draw circles without a delayed reaction. for exemple, my brush stroke appears 5 seconds later and every time I make a circular motion, my stroke goes straight. If anyone knows how to possibly fix this, please do tell cause I really want to try this program out but I simply can’t with the brush lag and the circle glitch : (

Do you have brush smoothing enabled? Turn it off to see if it makes a difference.

The straight portion of the curved stroke makes me wonder about your driver setup.

I see you’re on Windows but I can’t tell if you have a tablet or a 2 in 1 laptop. Please give us that info.

Also, tell us exactly what you have done to setup the driver and turn Windows Ink on or off.

@Poudy Also, please upload a full screen screenshot of the krita application when this has happened.
Have the Tool Options docker fully visible when you do this.

I dont, im pretty sure

Better check to be actually sure.

I use a drawing tablet and as far as i know, my windows Ink is currently turned on

I would of tried to send a vidéo of the bug happening but as a new forum member, they are not letting me, so i appologize for the low quality image of what happens when I try to draw circles using my pen and drawing tablet.

Also, i discovered that when I try to draw using my mouse, the issue is not present.

Have you tried using an Ellipse assistant tool? If I ever need a smooth curve that I still want to control with some brush sensitivity, I use either a Spline or Ellipse assistant (and check “Snap to Assistants” in the Brush tool options.)

Go to the tablet’s website and see if there is a driver update available. If there is one, follow their instructions carefully, then restart your computer. Once restarted, open the tablet’s interface and turn off Windows Ink.

Then, open Krita and turn off Windows Ink in there, too (Configure Krita > Tablet Settings > Set the Input API to Wintab). Restart Krita then test your circles.

The restarts are important.

A couple of questions first:

  1. Were you able to resolve this issue?:
    https://krita-artists.org/t/i-keep-getting-a-white-circle-and-the-popup-palette/105410
  2. And is the tablet functioning normally in other programs? (maybe test with the pre-installed “paint” application)

If the issue persists once you have ensured your drawing tablets drivers are up to date, you should check what your Krita tablet settings are like, by going to: Settings (the tab at the top of krita) → Configure Krita → Tablet settings.

Experiment with turning different settings on and off (some need you to close and re-open Krita before they activate). I have solved many issues in Krita, by playing around with those settings. (you may also need to play around with the settings in the tablets app)

And just incase you didn’t know, you can take a screenshot on Windows 11, by pressing Windows + Print screen (the print screen key is on the top row of your keyboard), or Windows + Shift + S. It’s alot easier to understand/see a screenshot then a blurred photo.

I hope I’ve been able to help.

I think your tablet is too weak so when you swipe the brush quickly there is a delay.

This particular behaviour has been seen before and is usually fixed by dealing with tablet driver problems then the settings/configuration issues.

Which tablet are you using?
If other people have that tablet then you would get good advice quicker if you say what your tablet is.

We still can’t see, wether you have brush smoothing enabled or not because the Tool Options docker isn’t visible.

Are the straight portions on the start or end of the pen stroke?

If they’re at the start, disable ‘hold to right click’ in pen & tablet settings.
