Using eyedropper without clicking on color

Type of device* : display tablet
Brand and version of the device: Huion Kamvas 2019 Pro
System** : Win 11

Hi Krita community,

i’m new to Krita and maybe someone can help with this little question.
When using the eyedroper I need to click on my display tablet to pick the color I’m hovering over. Which irritates me greatly and it disrupts my workflow quite a bit. I literaly need to stop an remember for a second that i still need to click on the color, not just hover over it to pick… Is there a solution to this? Can I adjust the eyedropper, so i don’t need to click on a color to pick it? Am I missing a setting?

Thanks in advance for any tips!

I dont think there is a option for it. and that method seems high volatile to use also.

I really don’t know why you want that as it seems very prone to many errors but i think it may be possible with either a python script ( though i highly doubt) or an autohotkey script( probably the easiest way).

As with autohotkey you can set the Ctrl to send Ctrl+ left click or any other shortcut you may want to set to for that

It sounds like you’re used to picking colour in that way. What applications have you been able to do it in?

i’ve been using Clip Studio Paint before.
I customized a shortcut and put it on the upper button of my pen - maybe I should’ve mentioned that, or I wasn’t clear enough with stating my problem, sorry. The shortcut is alt+left MB, so whenever I press the button, the eyedropper is activated and i just need to hover over the color i want, let the button go and get on with painting.

If you have alt+mb already set on your pen then you can just change the shortcut of the eyedropper to that and it should work the same. You can change it in settings> configure krita> canvas inputs. If i understood correctly.

Alt+Left MB is already set to Sample Foreground Colour From Merged Image in the Krita Default and ther Photoshop Compatible settings, but not in the Paint Tool SAI settings.

It may be that the Huion config/settings need to have an application profile created for krita.exe, if that hasn’t already been done and the settings utility has that facility.

Beyond that, I’ve no idea.

Thanks for your input. I’ll try to change the canvas inputs, see if it works!

Now that you mentioned this some tablet have trouble in krita with mouse input shortcuts set to the pen button, like right click wouldnt work at all on my deco 03 when set to the pen button. which might also be the case for this i believe there is an option in the tablet options that can help with this but i don’t have krita open here right now to be able to say which option it is

As far as I can remember, all Huion tablets of which I have read the manual so far had the possibility to save such profiles. And I’ve read most of them.
