Vector brushes

Im really curious about krita and if they have vector brushes whenever I look it up it says either no or yes

 Hello @Deroxist, and welcome to the forum!

I’ll try to answer this differently than that you probably expect. You can not paint with brushes on vector layers like you do on raster layers, but there are methods to apply brush strokes to vector objects. I won’t call that painting and if you search for a vector painting program, then Krita probably is not what you search for. But for raster painting, there is not much that can compete with Krita.

tl;dr: No.

Krita has a few vector tools (shapes and lines) and it has brushes (multiple brush engines) but they are largely independent of each other. For example you could not paint a stroke and later modify its brush tip, size or other features. (Except by manually erasing it like on a real canvas). You can use vector shapes but you wont be able to utilize any of the brush presets for it.

Yes, as done by Edit -> Stroke selected shapes
That uses a selected vector shape or shapes, in a vector layer, as a ‘tracing path’ for a brush preset and the resulting stroke is made in a newly created paint layer:

i.e. the vector object is used as a ‘guide’ for painting a raster stroke. Afterwards, editing the vector object has no effect on the painted raster stroke. You’d have to remake the raster stroke in a new paint layer by Edit -> Stroke selected shapes then incorporate it in your artwork.
