Vinny's Alpha Test Bundle! (Krita 6) (11.05 UPD: PART 2)

BIG update notice for v0.3:

The whole set has undergone a bit of an organizational overhaul, and there’s a few more new tools to use! The current bundle name is Vinny’s Alpha Bundle v0.3 on the drive link.

Now, the full set will stay in one place when you scroll and will not be as much of a mess, hopefully. The link has not changed, all the brushes are still here.

Quick rundown of the categories:

  • B) – basic. Set of the most basic, core tools for layouting, sketching, or just loose drawing sessions.
    • BE) - erasers.
  • G) – General slot for quick brushes, shapes, and the like.
    • GFx) – “Effects”, which ranges from faster layouts (buildings, clothing elements, etc.) to brushes that help you make things faster.
      • GFxH) – Slot for hair"/“bristly” type pens. Mostly just to help with putting down clean hair/fur elements for clarity when you get to rendering.
  • I) – Inks of all shapes and sizes.
    • *B) – Basic inks. Simple shapes, simple parameters.
    • *M) – Inks with a more “marker” sort of feeling. Think Copics or sharpies.
    • *N) – Natural. Made to emulate cleaned scans, with a slight focus on monochrome workflows.
    • *Ni) – Nibs. Inks that give off more of a nib feeling, whether it be monochrome, cleaned scans, or just what you would get when drawing on paper.
    • *E) – Expressive – drastic curve changes, very pressure/speed sensitive.
    • *S) – Sharp. Brushes that were built specifically around the “sharpness” setting, for the most crisp linework.
    • *D) – Digital oddities. A bit experimental, not made for more “traditional” workflows.
    • *Si) – Simplified. Made to use as few parameters, or at least limited parameters, without sacrificing expressiveness.
  • P) – All painterly brushes! But made almost fully only in the Pixel engine, with a few exceptions. Focusing on opacity/flow instead of good color mixing, which is what the later categories are for.
    • *AB) – Basics and blockers. Small toolset that is focused on versatility when thumbnailing and the like.
    • *AF) – Flat brushes. Self-explanatory.
    • *AG) – General. Can be used for anything, and are just overall loose tools. Usually best in early painting rather than render, but that’s just my personal workflow.
    • *B) – Bristles. NOT bristle engine, but just the general brush shape.
    • *D) – Duo. They work best with the gradient set to Background → Foreground (or reverse).
    • *Ex) – Experiments. Brushes that are unconventional, might be quirky to use, and/or have inentionally weird shapes.
    • *F) – Advanced flats. They’re technically similar to the AF category, but unlike them, these work best when used together with other brushes instead of being able to carry solo.
    • *Fr) – Flats → rakes. Category for any and all rakes.
    • *M) – Mixer brushes. This includes smudge engine mixers, but also clone brushes & bristle engine mixers. These work best when used on all of the other categories, as they don’t put down any color themselves.
  • R) – All things rendering. Anything that can help you with rendering goes here.
    • *B) – Brushes. Mainly smudge engine brushes.
    • *D) – Brushes that use the same DUO scheme as the ones in the P) category.
    • *Ex) – Experiments. Same as above P) category.
    • PpFx) – “post-processing effects”. Personally, I prefer to use them as a finisher, but they can of course be used more generally. You will need to adjust the settings within these ones.
  • S) – Structure. Brushes that add more of an oomph to your rendering, or can be used as painterly tools on their own.
    • *A) – Advanced. More complex shapes, brush tips, textures. You might need to adjust more settings to your liking.
    • *D) – DUO. Same as the previous duo schemes.
    • *M) – Misc. brushes. Things that don’t really fit into any other sub-category.
    • *Tx) – General texture. For adding detail whenever you need it.
    • *Sc) – Scatters. I prefer my scatters more “controlled”, contained within a shape – usually a circle. If you want them more “loose”, just turn off the masked brushtip.
  • X) – Extra. Mostly just pattern brushes instead of using raw texture files/images.

…and that’s all for now! Unfortunately, you will need to remove the previous bundles for this one to work as intended. If you made tweaks to any of the brushes, make sure to duplicate them so they don’t get lost.

From the newcomers, there are:

  • 12 new inkers
  • ~12 new painterly brushes
  • The whole effects section
  • A few gradients
  • I think that’s it but there might be other ones I’ve missed, since the bundle is pretty large

Have fun painting! :kiki_love:

Oh, and, right…

Thank you all so much for checking out this pack! I honestly didn’t expect it to get much attention, so it makes me really happy I can contribute to the community in this way.

Will see you all soon with more updates! :kikiexcited:
