Wacom mobile studio pro 16 is so slow!

I am a proud user of krita. I have been using krita and supporting it for a very long time. I have been running krita on self made computer which had a motherboard from old hp elitebook. It had i5 and i extended ram to 2x 4gb no gpu. I used to have huion kamvas 16 pro. It was working fast on windows 11!! No lags. But my pc passed away and I thought a good time to get something new.

I have got Wacom mobile studio 16 pro!

Ram: double- 16gb
Gpu nvidia quadro
Cpu i7

I thought it must be even more fast

But its not!
If i open my kra files i was working on my old hp and want to draw a circle it has so many lags and gies so slow and fan is constantly running!

What is this?!

How to solve this issue?
What i do care is that it gies smooth- drawing is fast and responsive- immediately.
Otherwise it’s not useable.

What to do?

I believe you are in the wrong category to post this topic.

Nevertheless, did you try to change the rendering engine?

Look under settings, configure krita. There you have settings for performance, display and your tablet try to play with the settings maybe it helps🤔

Ou. I am very sorry. Let me see if I can repost it in a right category.

But thank you very much for your answer.

I have noticed that machine operates very slow even though I have nothing opened. I do not understand why is it. Because he should be good enough.

I am considering to try other is if that solve an issue- but first before doing all this I want to see if snethibgelseveill solve the problem and keep win 11

No worries. I moved it.

I am sorry for that. Thank you

Are your drivers up to date? There should be drivers available on wacoms software center.

Drivers are up to date

I am really wondering
Could it be caused by win 11

Maybe I should go to win 10

but I find win 10 interface very chaotic. And unnecessary features.

But yeah. For sake of functionality. If it will solved the issue

Or linux

Windows 10 will be discontinued… I recommend linux, but I don’t know how your device will handle it.

I assume it’s used since it doesn’t seem to be sold anymore…
There are two generations of the Mobile Studio Pro 16. The DTH-W1620H (2016 model) uses the i7-6567U (2 cores/4 thread), while the DTHW1621H (2019 model) uses the i7-8559U (4 cores/8 threads). The GPU in the latter is also a newer generation.
So that’s quite a difference…

I don’t really know much about either generation, but they do have a reputation of running very hot and failing often…
Did you check CPU temperatures and clock speeds under load?

the machine was really loud. And slow. It is pitty. I have switched back to win 10 and machine became less noisy. Almost no noise and speed is was more quick and smooth. It means that it cannot handle win11 which is really pitty.

Sounds like you need to check all your Computer, Krita, and WIN11 settings.
Below are just a few things that can slow down your work flow.

In WIN11:
Default Graphic settings correct? Is Krita fighting WIN11 GPU settings?
Have you unchecked all the boxes in Performance settings?
Have you removed all the unused or unnecessary startup apps?
Have you looked at the task manager to see what may be dragging down your CPU?
Looked at Performance Monitor to see if there is a task hogging resources?

Edit: Have you set custom graphics options for Krita in System > Display > Graphics?

Computer: Is the fan(s) clogged with dust? If so, it could be overheating and throttling your CPU to help stay cooler.
Does the CPU cooling fins need cleaning?
Power use settings correct?

Krita: Config and Performance settings?

Additionally, and after studying the specs of your CPU and Wacom’s specs of your mobile studio, make sure that the inbuilt Intel CPU-Graphics do not clash with your Nvidia Quadro, or whatever graphics-card they plugged in the newer models like yours.
I guess that Wacom has disabled the CPU-Graphics by default when they sold the mobile studio’s new.

I have done what have you said, but checking the usage of cpu and checking what it causes. This i have not checked.

I just installed windows 10 and drawing is smooth again. Under win 11 it was impossible.

That may be the problem. I just looked up the specs on that device and it comes pre loaded with Windows 10 Pro.

If the hardware is too old, it may not operate on WIN 11. It could install, but may not operate as expected. Many older PCs cannot be upgraded to WIN 11.

The other possibility is that the drivers do not support WIN 11 on that hardware.

An interesting problem for sure.

Edit: Now I don’t know what to think. This is from the WACOM forum

That looks like it is about 2019 model which has a different cpu

I have 2016

I think the problems is not supported win 11 although the hw is not the worst one.

Pity i would say.
Thank you very much for all of yours answer and showed intrest

Thank you
