Love this…only one thing bugs me that dark brown spot on the rightmost lemon…almost in the center of the image…otherwise perfect!

Ya know @kacart I never noticed it before but now its all I see… Have to fix it, the only problem its in someones wall…

Amazing works

A question from someone who dabbles occasionally in watercolors: (if you dont mind)

How do you get this contrast and vibrancy?

I do have my prof grade set [a mix of mijello, senelier, davinci]. I tend to work by layering but when i get to this point in my painting - i feel i work the paper way too much, some paint lifts [the usual suspect colors].

is this just me having fear that i might make hole in the paper i use. [i do have some 300gsm papers]

any advice?

Hi @kaichi1342,

If your using good 300gsm 100% cotton you should have no problem to be honest I haven’t used pulp watercolor paper. I use Baohong paper and never have a problem & I use lots of water… Your paints are great quality but not sure if there is any difference between those & Daniel Smith that I use… If you put one of your paintings up I could check it out?

Thank you,
I check my stacks of paper and I guess its probably its not 100% cotton. I’ll try paint something this weekend - is it ok to tag you?

I have 2 tubes of daniel smith - a viridian and a mars yellow. I think daniel smiths are more flowy and granulating compare to others.

Yea I started with Art Spectrum w/c then tried some Holbien & Seneilier (sorry terrible speller) but when I started using Daniel Smith I really liked them… Sure kaichi1342 it fine to tag me when you do a work. Don’t know about you but finding digital powerful but harder in some ways except being able to undo mistakes…

They have different charms for me. Most of the type of art i do was better in digital. Nothing beats the kind of meditative state i get when I do watercolor because it requires me to wait. Im still very much beginner in it as i have not dedicated much time studying the medium.

Speaking of paint - i found i like those that uses honey in the binder than not [for some reason]

really thank you for giving me sometime talking about watercolors. Ill check out the paper you mention. Maybe I’ll order some in my next payday.

Thats cool, Baohong is good quality but a cheaper option.
ARCHES full sheet 300gsm are $12 aud
BAOHONG full sheet 300gsm are under $8 aud.
Not sure of the availability where you are though.

I found a seller located in our capital, i can get it online from them ^-^ which is great.
[i added the 10x14block]

The block is great, no need to stretch it. I do heavy wet on wet so still get buckling but it dries flat… Look forward to see your work on it.

Thank you

Nice painting!! Spot at the focus point is the only flaw. A Small touch of the brush will rectify it.

I did that last night but my internet failed but here it is minus the spot. Sad thing is I can’t fix the original I gave it away.
