Watercolor with the digital atelier brushes: another poppy field study

Hi all !

Here is a watercolor study, using here the Digital Atelier brushes.
I’ve reserved a white space for the two main poppies, obtaining a light effect.
Please, comments and advice are more thank welcome: I am still a newbie with Krita.

I founded the watercolor Digital Atelier brushes much more comfortable than the actual krita-4.3 watercolor brushes I’ve previously tested in the post Watercolor : a poppy field study . Hoping these brushes will be fully included in a future Krita release.

So, many thanks @RamonM for these brushes: I will continue to explore drawing & painting with them !

Wow, i love the style, lot of good things here. vibrant red as the flower, stilized and simplified. I like a lot. I read you prefer more the DA brushes. Thanks they were created to provide good options for the artists. Now i am defining more the set. please stay tuned. The MAIN differences are two as i will explain in the next video.

  1. New watercolor brushes use the creamy mode. DA need Krita 4.1 mode to be in 100% arttistic power.
  2. New watrercolor brushes in 4.3 use only default resources to show how easy we can create our own brushes.

Sorry for the delay in the answer. And thanks for supporting Krita

Nice work!

I’m new to Krita but was trying out the new watercolor brushes in 4.3 yesterday and am quite impressed!
Will have to try a painting with them as I rekindle my skills.

Nice gentle approach ive yet to give the DA watercolour brushes a good test .But looking at your painting going to have to give them a some time.True watercolour style is something I’ve never done I have used gouache but it ,or I have applied it in a more opaque and regimental style…Your painting has the feel of a genuine watercolour .Credit to the developers and of cause yourself.

Of all the mediums I fear watercolour the most. Something about the subtle nuance via water or paint. bleeding, accident or by design that scares me. I have much respect for watercolour artist.

With that said beautiful simple and elegant work. Very nice.

Many thanks for your positive comments on this poppy field! The DA watercolor brushes by @RamonM is sincerely amazing: some of them are included in krita-4.3 but not yet all of them: the complete DA brush set is available at the krita shop. Hope they will be fully distributed within krita in a forthcoming version, since its really an important contribution to krita.

Yes I agree, there is a certain skill level in water colours that if achieved gives the impression of a casual almost carefree approach to the painting yet in reality it is far from easy.I think there lies the trap that perhaps lures the unwary to using this media ,then quickly drop it for another.:joy:
