What is the difference between female and male faces

As quite a beginner, I find it difficult to find the difference between male and female faces.
When I started drawing, some faces came out male and some female. And since I developed a method by myself for drawing faces It always came out male, and I don’t know why.

can I ask for a detailed tutorial (with a sketch comparing illustrations) on all the differences?

Thank you very much.

Hi @anonymous_unknown

There are lots and lots of tutorials on this already. I just did a quick search and found this article. It’s well written and has good illustrations.

I went over it and tried it. It helped me even though I found it quite vague and not drawing-focused.
Here are a few points I had trouble with or discovered:

  • The shape of the jaws in males has a curve under the ear. The female jaws break an angle somewhere in the middle between the ear and the front of the face. From the front, the faces of the males are oval by the chin, while female faces are sharper by the chin and where the curve breaks.
  • The cheek muscle by the nose ends right before the nose of the male pules ‘lines’ from the eyebrows to the nose. In the females, the muscles go over the nose, breaking the pattern of the ‘lines’ and concluding in a ‘buttonlike’ shape.
  • As mentioned in the article, the eyebrows have a curve in the female and are more straight in the male.

I missed out on whatever I couldn’t identify. I hope anyone who can, please point out everything I have missed out.

Sounds like you got quite a lot of good info! Time to start drawing and practicing.
