I figured this topic would lighten up the mood for a bit.
For me the one tool artist should have while drawing both traditionally and digitally is an glove.
For digital artist it because of the sweat and easier to move while drawing.
Why would I recommend a glove for traditional art simple, when I was in undergrad and doing a lot of pencil sketches it helped prevent my hand from smudging the page.
I find that even with a glove, I smudge the pencil lines. So I hold a piece of scrap (but clean) paper in my left hand and place it under the edge of my right hand where it rests on the paper as I draw. Then I move the scrap paper around as needed.

My most important tool is a well-fed imagination. Books and movies that are full of fantasy and impossible ideas are really helpful.

I agree with @sooz about imagination and really the best tool for an artist is a good eye, training and practice.
p.s. I don’t think I could draw if my hands were that cold…some people really do ‘Suffer for their Art’ I guess!
I think even as a purely digital artist a pencil/ pen and papers [in any form you choose] is still a valuable tool to have. You can use it for notes or random sketches, thumbnail or just scribbling non-sense bonus you can tear it if you are frustrated or crumple

After computer graphics, I lost interest in traditional drawing. The only thing I practice with a regular pencil (and that was months ago) was line exercises.
This is because these exercises give better results when practiced with a pencil than using the graphics tablet.
The pencil always works especially for practice
