Who can figure this out?

Hey guys, I’ve got a real challenge — a twist!

It’s not a big deal to draw a box in space.

It’s still not a big deal to draw a bent box in space — like a wheel in perspective, no problem.

But what about adding a twist to it? What would the result even look like?

Would anyone know how to draw that?

I’m adding a sketch to show what I mean…

Hi. From the beginning, you have a solid object with smooth lines, and then you divide it into segments with straight edges. Due to the difference of these very lines on the edges of the bodies, no matter how you draw it, it is not possible to smooth the chain of these rectangular shapes at the moment of turns and twists. This is my opinion based on practice.:man_shrugging:

By the way, I remembered that I had already participated in a discussion with you about the disclosure of the cube. The whole secret there was in the correct application of perspective at all stages of the turn. I liked this puzzle game :+1: .

Okay guys, I haven’t given up! A several sleepless night. But do you know this one? Later it gets it is harder to figure it out? Do you also need place to focus?

Somehow I found it really valuable to figure this out.

Yeah, you might say, “What a waste of time. Just get Blender or Maya!”

But no, I wanted to understand how it works and be in control of designing forms that bend and twist, and to challenge myself. Because once I know that, I can use it anywhere.

So, this is the result of my training. I drew this tree with a looping branch.

Yes, it looks very simple, but it actually, it cost me a lot of effort, fun, and excitement to figure it out and along with a plenty of tension and frustration, like crazy!

It’s my pleasure to share it with you, and it would mean to me even more if you have anything to say about it or want to share your thoughts.

Thank you, cheers!

I agree with you, there are many forms that excite the mind, how to reproduce them on paper so as not to lose this magic of forms. And sometimes you have to spend hours drawing and painting to understand. And indeed, when this form becomes available, you feel as if you have completed an entire university course. Some things that I didn’t know about before or couldn’t portray are becoming more accessible. I didn’t understand your question at first, it seemed to me that you gave a challenge to repeat the smoothness of the shapes with cubes. That’s why I said it’s not possible. The tree is drawn perfectly, the bend of the trunk is pleasant. For example, I solve many things through a fan perspective, raising the horizon proportionally to a complex object, changing only the vanishing point, moving it in the direction of bends.
