Why won't pixel brush outline snap to pixel centre?

Hello everyone, I have had a problem with my krita, and I don’t know how to solve it.
It’s a small but stressful problem. I draw pixel-art, so I draw in pixels, which are squares, the issue here is that it’s deconfigured to such an extent that, even if I have the pencil for pixel art, it keeps drawing me as if I had a normal one like a brush.
Anyone can help me? I’m a little bit angry and I want to resolve it

Hello @Namilo654 and welcome to the forum

For this type of problem, and for many others, it’s important to upload screenshots showing what results you’re getting and often also showing a full screen screenshot to show overall working arrangement and the contents of important dockers.

Can you zoom in and take a screenshot of the image you’re getting.
Also say which brush preset you’re using.

As an example, here is the result I get when painting with the ‘Pixel Art’ brush preset at 1px size. I’ve zoomed in so that the pixel grid (in green) is showing:

Hello, look, The exactly problem is that when I draw, the pencil (I use the Pixel art brush in 1 px size) normally pause in one square and you need to move to the other.

This is what happen
Prueba

(The cursor isn’t in the middle of a square, It’s in 4 squares at the same time)

How it usually works:

(It’s in one square and never is off-center)

I know this can be a little be exagerated but It’s kinda weird that happen

None of the freehand brush presets will snap to pixels. They are not designed to do that.
The ‘pixel art’ brush presets are designed to give a sharp ‘dab’ with no spread or anti-aliasing.
You have to make sure the brush outline is mostly over the pixel and not more than half a pixel outside of it.
If you use the Line Tool with Show Preview enabled in the Tool Options docker then pause as you’re positioning the end point of the line, you’ll get a preview of the final line and you can move the end point to get a good straight or diagonal line.

The Line Tool will snap to pixels, with View → Snap To → Snap to Pixel, but it snaps to pixel grid intersections, not pixel centres.

So I can’t put the brush in the pixel centres… Okey, thank for the helping

I just ask, because before this upload (krita’s upload) the brush was always in the centre and the fact that now it isn’t in the centre keep me thinking that I put a wrong preference or something like that.

What do you mean by ‘this actualisation’?
In what situation were you previously using krita and had the cursor and brush outline always in the centre of a pixel?

Yes, with the same brush, I always draw with the brush on the centre of the square
Example:

And was always like that

When was this? Was it an earlier version of krita and you’ve updated the version since then?
Which version are you using at the moment?

I’ve edited the title of your topic to make it more clear.

Let me explain.

I’m in the last update (5.1.5). But, for some reason the brush (pixel-art) doesn’t work in squares since the last update, and I was a little bit confused because when I was learning how to draw on krita and after years, I was always drawing with squares, now It’s like a normal brush… And I’m a little bit dissapointed and unconfortable

Which version were you using before and which operating system do you use?
I’ve never known the freehand brush to snap to pixel centre.

First of all, there’s a no-freehand brush?.

And second:
I really don’t know what version I used at the time but I didn’t expect never that updated the form of use of a brush.

If you search some videos of people doing pixel art on krita, you should see that they are drawing in cubes and not freehand with the pixel art brush

This needs somebody who is experienced in actually doing pixel art whereas I only use it to draw thin solid lines when I need them.
The change I made to the topic title will help to attract the attention of those people.

Which tool are you using to paint on the canvas?

This is the brush that I always used

That is a ‘brush preset’ called ‘u) Pixel Art’.
A full screen screenshot will show that you are using the Freehand Brush tool selected from the Toolbox (unless you’re using the Line tool or maybe the shape tools).

I’m only use this three brushes. btw what is a “brush preset”?

It’s the thing you select from the ‘Brush Presets’ docker. There are many of them of different kinds. You have selected to use ‘pixel art’ brush presets.

As I said, I only use pixel art brush presets to draw thin solid straight lines and have no problems with using them.
I hope someone who is experienced with painting pixel art can give more advice for your situation.

Thanks anyway

See if this post is helpful. It’s about making changes to the pixel art brush for better snapping. We were on a previous version of Krita at that time so I don’t know if this is relevant today.

@Namilo654: I think you only have one response left for today as a new user, if you haven’t even reached your limit already. If this is the case, and you still want to tell us something, you can also edit your last post and attach more replies.
For example, via this/like this:

“Add:” Otherwise, you can also wait until tomorrow to be able to write again. This is a measure against spammers and trolls and not meant to annoy new users, but to keep the forum as the lovely place that many of us like very much because of the way it is.
