I’m glad something good came out of this situation
My upgrade to 24H2 went smoothly.
EDIT: I spoke too soon… It broke my OpenTabletDriver. I had to go back to the Wacom driver. Fortunately, this one works fine ![]()
23H2 was so broken for me, I thought upgrading to 24H2 was the only fix, but it wouldn’t let me. I had to do a clean install of 24H2. So far so good, but I hope I’m not jinxing it.
I think I’m gonna stay on Win 10… ![]()
Get Win 10 fully updated before October 2025 because that’s when Microsoft will declare it to be End Of Life and stop supporting it.
I suppose you have to wait for an OTD update then.
Yup… I didn’t have time to try debugging it ![]()
Any update about OTD with 24H2?
Hi, I haven’t tried it since that time and there were no new releases (I do see some activity in the repo though).
In fact, I had to reinstall Windows anyway
(replaced some parts in the PC), so maybe it’s worth trying again on a fresh system.
Now I am afraid to upgrade ![]()
Hey… I don’t mean to incur the mods’ wrath, but let me give a quick update on the OTD situation (and I don’t mind bumping this lovely artwork
)
It’s definitely Windows 11 24H2 that messed things up. The pen tracking just feel much more jittery now with this Windows version. With Wacom (PTH-860) especially, hovering at a slightly bigger distance from the tablet’s surface is making the cursor jump around like crazy.
Huion (G930L) is more stable, actually it felt pretty normal and usable!
This got me thinking that maybe this has to do with the superior sensitivity of Pro Pen 2, it has a very low activation force (IAF). The nib is always a bit loose in the pen, so all it takes is for it to “skip” a bit to register as a click / stroke.
I was able to work around this by bumping ever so slightly the pen tip threshold in ODT (e.g. from 0 to 1).
This seems to avoid these spurious pen strokes.
Overall, the experience somehow still feels worse than back in 23H2 (as I remembered it). My other PC is still on the old Windows version, so maybe I need to retry it there to have a direct comparison.
Anyway, For now I think I’ll just go install Wacom driver on my main system and save myself the headache…
