First time using the WIP section…

There are things I like about Metal Sonic in the sketch more than I do in the line art. It isn’t done yet, so I plan to address this.
After 2 weeks I’ve finally gotten back around to this. The line art is done and now I am coloring and shading it.
Chugging along…
For the shading on Metal Sonic I want him to have the colors and hue shifting of a SEGA Genesis style sprite, except in high-definition rendering. As for Rikka, I’m not sure if I should also give her color-blending, just so that their visual styles will match, or if I should give her cel-shading because she’s an anime character… I’ll see how it turns out.
To me, this drawing is a kind of spiritual successor to another artwork I made almost 3 years ago:
The only thing similar between them is the anime girl + inanimate object come-to-life pairing. Back when I drew this, I always wanted to do airbrushing with my art one day, like the Metal Sonic above, so I’m happy that I’ve finally been able to do it!

MAN has it really been 22 days since I’ve worked on this? That’s 3 weeks! I’ve gotta tighten up…
Anyway, here’s the progress I’ve made on it so far.
But the outcome was worth it!
