Description of the issue (you can include screenshots): I’m having an issue with the xp pen shortcut remote - have watched numerous videos on how to install it. I can get it to work in Ps but not in Krita. Has anyone used it with Krita? and what is the secret to getting it to work?
Have you already tried in your XP Pen AC-19 driver program, i.e. its user interface, to combine the available key assignments of your XP Pen AC-19 with the functions that you can find in Krita under ‘‘Settings’’ >> ‘‘Configure Krita’’ >> ‘‘Canvas Input Settings’’, as well as under ‘‘Settings’’ >> ‘‘Configure Krita’’ >> ‘‘Keyboard Shortcuts’’? To bind these assignments to your remote’s keys?
You can also redefine the shortcuts that you find in these two menu items, for example from Ctrl + C to Ctrl + X, but this is only an example and not a suggestion.
Hello, thank you for the welcome - I’m glad to be aboard. I’m enjoying learning Krita a lot. It’s fairly intuitive coming over from Ps.
I have the Canvas Input Settings set to Krita default and the Keyboard Shortcuts match what I’ve programmed into the remote.
the only extra shortcut I’ve created is on the K6 button to [y] to activate all of my tabs to tile as I like to see my work across several canvases. I was wondering if maybe I have the path incorrect - it’s set to the Krita exe (the same as the Ps path) I did have to browse to find the path to Krita. I’m stumped on how to get it to work.
Thanks for any further advice.
Hm, that might be a clue here… Do you have multiple versions of Krita on your system? Perhaps one installed and one (or more) portable, which you might have tried before? If so, you need to make sure to tell XP-Pen the version/path you’re actually using. With Krita running, the right one should be already offered in the list from the XP-Pen dialogue.
My difficulty is that I don’t know this function of Krita, and I can’t find it in the menus and the lists of keyboard and canvas shortcuts. It is possible that I don’t know/understand it because of the translation. Pressing the Y key did not result in an overview arrangement of the open documents/tabs in Krita for me either, so now I have a few questions.
did you assign this shortcut in Krita to this function, I don’t know at the moment, and does it work when you press Y on the regular keyboard instead of your XP Pen AC-19’s K6?
if it is a function of Krita, could you tell us its exact name and if it belongs to Keyboard Shortcuts or Canvas Input Settings?
is it possible that this is a Photoshop function that you hope Krita also has, and were you hoping to activate this function by mapping the K6 key on your XP Pen AC-19 (to this Photoshop function)?
Because you should be able to call this function, just like all other functions, if it exists and has been assigned to this keystroke/shortcut in Krita. If all other assignments are callable, then it is unlikely that this one will not work.
a question out of personal curiosity. Is it not possible to set up profiles in the driver of the XP Pen AC-19 for different programs, such as Krita, CSP, PS, etc.? The manual I have, and its illustrations don’t say anything about this, and the indication that you should either adjust the different programs to the assignment of the XP Pen AC-19, or reassign/adjust the driver of the XP Pen AC-19 to the assignment of the programs in each case.
@Michelist - OP has stated, that she added a profile for Krita - it even can be seen in that screenshot. She also has stated, that AC-19 button assignments match those of Krita.
It seems more a case of XP-Pen driver not recognising that Krita is running - for whatever reason…
@mooksii - Did you try if Krita reacts to some of the AC-19 default assignments? Ctrl+Z should be one of those, I guess? Possibly change some shortcuts in Krita, just to test.
True, you are right, now that I have downloaded the screenshot to look at it in large, it is obvious.
However, it is a sad achievement of XP-Pen not to offer online manuals corresponding to the current state of the driver software. Well, anyway.
The main problem seemed to me after the second posting to be that the key K6 changed to the shortcut Y does not perform the desired action. Something that can only work if the function I am not familiar with is available in Krita.
I assigned the Y key using the custom option and yes it works on my regular keyboard.
Tile is a function of Krita and I assigned Y as this function shortcut - there wasn’t an existing shortcut prior to my adding it.
It is not a Photoshop function that I was hoping to bring across - did not ever try to tile all tabs in Ps.
Yes it is possible to set up profiles in the driver of the XP Pen AC-19 for the other applications that you mentioned. I had Krita open when assigning the path - it wasnt in the dropdown menu - I had to browse to find it. I’m wondering if that is where the issue is - possibly not assigning it to the correct path.
Yes, I tried all of the shortcuts assigned on the remote - they work on the keyboard in Krita - just not the remote - I’ve done the regular switching off and restarting, etc, and uninstalled Krita and reinstalled it in case something was corrupt.
The Y is a custom shortcut made by me for my own personal use - when I use my keyboard and press Y Krita responds and tiles all of my tabs so that I can see all of them - so the shortcut works - just not on the remote.
I do appreciate your questions and helping me to figure out what’s happening - happy to clarify anything that’s not clear from my end.
I have only one version on my pc - I also thought that with Krita running that the path should be offered however, it was not - I had to browse for it.
I do believe it was the path that I had incorrect - I reinstalled Krita and reselected the path and it’s working now. Thank you both for talking me through the process.
