30 second poses. Based on references from line-of-action.com
First time trying this exercise and hoooooly this is exhausting.
More cyllinders.
I think I’ll go to sleep now.

More 30s poses.
I don’t understand, 30s * 60 is only 30min, why does my arm feel so tired…?
More spheres.
I feel the same way after a bunch of gesture sketches. These exercises are challenging your mental capability of observation and ability to project ideas on paper through your hand via a drawing implement. So yeah, it may not be too different than taking a difficult math quiz or two.
Ah, boxes.
Sometimes they go well, and sometimes… well… they don’t. Just look at that terrible line control. I definitely need more sleep.
more 30s poses
I was thinking more about physical exhaustion.
My arm isn’t used to this and after a 30min session (actually 3x 10min sessions with breaks inbetween) it feels like I just did a bunch of pushups.
More boxes today.
Every time my arm doesn’t move the way I want it to, a little part of me dies inside. By my current estimation, I am about 800% dead.
The only cure is even more boxes. And more cyllinders. And more hatching. And more ellipses. And more everything else.
Some 30s poses to finish things off for today.
I should have gone to sleep like 3 hours ago. I’m going to be really tired tomorrow…
More of these again.
I think this is starting to get a bit monotonous. I’ll probably switch to a different exercise in February. Sadly I don’t have time to do much else today.
Did some 3 value studies today.
A lot of my drawings have this issue where the foreground doesn’t separate cleanly from the background, and I feel like these might help.
Hi there great practice so far
. Just wanna say as someone that has done the same practice regime years ago, I think you need to add 1 or 2 practice where you draw something for yourself every now and again. Something that excites you, draw it while still following what you’ve studied so far. Nothing kills willpower faster than doing repetition practice only and not actually implement the skill for something you actually wanna make imo.
I saw your portfolio, maybe you can use one the pose and lighting reference to draw one of your character/fanart. Once you know the repetition practice helps, it will most likely easier to get the willpower to practice more. Goodluck!
Hi, thanks for concern but there is no need to worry.
I do actually spend way more time drawing for myself than I do practicing. It’s just the “for myself” drawings take way longer to complete than the practice ones, so there is fewer of them.
(for reference, in the current week I spent 7h 28min on “for fun” drawings and only 1h 45min on practice drawings. The previous week was ~20.5h drawing for fun and 3h 42min practice. If anything, I’m not practicing enough, lol)
Most of my “lazy” / “tired” comments come from the fact that I do the “for fun” drawings in the morning, and the practice drawings in the afternoon, when I’m already tired after work (the 2 times I skipped daily practice this week happened on the days I had to do overtime)
