I’m creating this topic so that artist like me who draws lowres or pixel art who wants their text non-anti-aliased (or crispy hehe).
Explanation: Anti-aliasing is a computer’s way to smoothen the jaggedness of a text.
This tutorial is for those who wants a way to “disable” it.

Text Tutorial:
Right click the vector text you want to “disable the anti-aliasing” of.
Add → Filter Mask
Adjust → Color Adjustment → Channel: Alpha
Then put Input to 0 and Output to 255. Here’s a picture for those who wants to save it.

Ideally, there should be a way to disable anti-aliasing on a vector layer via property. There is more use cases though some of those are outdated. Like, you can use vectors to define alpha for really old game that has sharp alpha and something like this would make that technique useful.

Hey Reptorian! Now I have issues with this technique when I was doing some animation by replicating game-like text scrolling.
When animating, the filter mask flickers then disappear. Cannot be undo to get the settings of the filters back again, even if you do like a small adjustment.
The get-around on this issue is to duplicate and flatten the vector layer.
I really agree with you, because it’s a minor issue.
But still, this technique you taught me works fine in just creating a non-animation artwork!
I think it would best to start a new thread. I want to see vector layer have it own layer property with the inclusion of option to disable anti-aliasing.
Why did you liked this post a year later?

I was just looking around at that time. Anyway, guess I didn’t need to do this thing anymore since v5.3 update, where you can now disable the antialiasing of vector layers like texts, just by the Layer docker or the Layer properties.
