Auto backup save When pressing No on CTRL+Q

I was drawing for an hour and I accidentally pressed on “No” when i pressed CTRL+Q ( When it asked if i wanna save).

As sorry as I am and as tragic as it is that you lost an hour of your work, it also seems to be true that you did not inform yourself in advance about the related topics in order to be informed and prepared in case of the situation you faced.

But okay, so you want to know why something isn’t working the way you imagined it would work in your favor, in case what just happened to you happened?

For a very long time, Krita offers tools to help avoid these hard landings of users, in Krita you find them under ‘‘File’’ >> ‘‘Save Incremental Version’’ CTRL + ALT + S and ‘‘File’’ >> ‘‘Save Incremental Backup’’ F4, so a simple shortcut used a few times an hour and your pain wouldn’t be as deep as yours is right now, but Krita can’t help if users refuse to make use of them. There is also a plugin that modifies the auto backup function available in Krita, which is exactly explained in the manual (and so often misinterpreted), to work in the way you imagined before the recent incident:

It’s a plugin which replaces Krita’s odd built-in autosave functionality, which for some unexplainable reason will delete your autosaves, with a version that doesn’t do that. It makes a docker that you can use to toggle oughtasave on or off, but it also has a settings tab where you can easily set it to autostart and from then on run in the background. So you only ever really need to look at the docker once to tune the settings as you want, if you don’t want it cluttering up your workspace.
