Barrel rotation is going the opposite direction

Type of device : Wacom Art Pen on a Cintiq 27 QHD
System : Windows 11 running Krita 5.3.0-prealpha (git 9fcf392)

When adding rotation to a brush that is only impacted by the barrel rotation, the brush tip rotates in the opposite direction. Only way to fix this would be to invert the curve as such.

The problem now is that the rotation is no longer “smooth” it gets sticky at both ends of a full rotation and you need to go significantly over the rotation to get it to register a rotation again. So it is impossible to do a small rotation that is offset from the 0 degree angle. This problem is not there when the curve is set to the default linear one but then again it rotates to the opposite direction.

Should probably mention that Photoshop and CSP correctly rotate the brush and it is only isolated to Krita.

Any way to invert the rotation outside of this curve in Krita?

Thank you!

Hi
I’m using the same tablet as you do, what a coincident!
I was going to create a topic here too when I found out the solution just now:
Change the Tablet setting to use WinTab instead of Windows ink

It is the same in Clip studio paint: when using windows ink the rotation would go the opposite direction.
Then in the brush setting just have the curve be a straight line from bottom to top, left to right.

Hope it works for you

@krawklis, if you change this in Krita, confirm it with OK-Button and restart Krita, you additionally have to disable Windows Ink in Wacom Control Center.

Hey!

Thanks for the replies, but I’ve since moved over to GNU/Linux. I could not stand Windows anymore.
Anyways, the pen rotation works now but there is a different issue of pen pressure stepping now like what this user experienced.

Like him I came to the same conclusions. I am using KDE Plasma, it happens only in Krita (I tested drawpile and magma and it worked there flawlessly) and only with that pen.
