Brush Lag with Watercolor Presets

With the 4.2.9 update for Krita, I’m noticing severe brush lag even at the default brush size for the following watercolor brush presets. Before the update from 4.2.8, I did not notice any significant brush lag at the default size for these presets, but I may not have been paying attention. I am currently using a six year old Toshiba Satellite C55-B5200 with a Wacom Bamboo Fun CTE-450 graphics tablet so there is also a possibility that my computer does not fit the recommended system requirements for Krita or maybe my computer hardware is just too old.

That’s a Core i3-4005U processor, which isn’t really powerful. And the watercolor brushes Ramon is making really tax the limit out of Krita’s brush system, so I’m not surprised they are slow on your hardware. I very much doubt whether there is an actual slowdown compared to 4.2.8, but you can install 4.2.8 next to 4.2.9 and test for yourself – use the portable zip on windows, or the appimage on Linux.

I haven’t tried these watercolour brushes, but I recently had unexpected heavy lag with other brushes which I narrowed down to the stabilser. Once I switched that off (in tool settings) it worked as expected.

Thought it was worth mentioning just in case it’s relevant here…

I think, he is not referring to my set if you see the link description. Is referring to @Pesi brushes. In my laptop i also notice different speeds. My watercolor brushes of course has limits because it uses masked brush feature a lot. But i take advantage of pixelbrush engine and multithreading using pixel brush engine. Of course in future they could be improved. I am open to collab with Pesi if he wants.
