And yes my prediction was right it’s a headache, but also beacause of size difference between character not just the lack of neck. So much that I doubt if I should redraw it or not.
At the place to celebrate Shwodwin new design completion I just draw young Meisha in a Sh’s pajama and it’s ended up with me making the sibling (on left). Except for the zipper it’s pretty canon for them, their normal clothes are lafloe based… well it’s fill the gauge of cuteness for the month.
I’m kind of in a slump, just making a clean draft make me too lazy to clean the second one or even sketching bird or doodling. In the end I just muttered the courage to added two more child’s pajama.
A bit of writing to go with
The sun wasn’t up yet when Laïn pushed the cover, the sound of drizzle feeble but present helped him calm down. He couldn’t remember the dream, all that remained was weak fear and anger and the pulsing pain from the burning marks. The former, like the water on window, was rapidly flowing down in oblivion, but the latter will accompany him for the day. A damp clothe never really calmed the pain, not that he could get up, so he pressed his face on the scales, cooling down a bit. It did the trick, the pain receding to a little prickle.
He stayed that way a bit longer, the slow beat of Meisha’s heart and the cool scales were strangely comforting. Zeïfgon were feared to an incredible degree, a shifter one the same as others. Her human form did make acceptance easier as long as she rested in this form, but if a bit of a scale or horn showed up, the disgust and fear would be here even if hastily suppressed or covered. Except for her brothers. And a few who were now too habituated.
As for him… Laïn was too broken to feel anything at that time, and now a bit less broken, they were too tangled with one another for that. In their strange relationship, no place could be made for what she classified as human survival instinct.
Crazy for other, a lifeline for him, and maybe a bit of sanity for the two of them. It was fine, it kept him from drowning, and maybe later they …
Is line of thinking was interrupted as he realized what day it was. The near future was too unpleasant.
Without bothering to turn on the lamp, Laïn picked up his clothes to put on, or at least the underwear that was at hand’s distance. The top was easy, and thankfully most of Siegon’s bottom didn’t need to have your two legs free, even in the night he could do it with ease. Then the socks, link remaining nowhere to be found and a leg tightly wrapped made it harder.
He wasn’t that noisy, but it was enough for Meisha who began to stir. The tail that clung to his leg finally let go and he could sort of distinguish her figure sitting and becoming human again.
Maybe it was the link, maybe it was the desire to see her more clearly that moved his hand to finally turn the lamp on. Her outline lit up letting see half-opened eyes lost in the void and long dark hair with paler blue reflections cascading down on her small but firm shoulder and torso.
The sight stirred a feeling too elusive to be identified. It was only when his digit traced her cheek and she let her head snuggle in his palm that he realized what it was.
– Sun ?
– Not up yet.
She hummed in response, and he slid his finger in her hair. It was so peaceful, he could even forget the external world if only for a bit.
– Let’s dress shall we.
He picked her clothes and the link that was, for some reason, across the room. A low growl escaped from Meisha when her hair found a way to be tangled with her collar.
– Come here, I will tress them. He said, and she complied. Sorry, I’m not as good as your brother with that.
– Don’t matter. She yawned, and without seeing it he knew that it was enough to clearly see that her teeth even in human form looked a bit like fangs. As long as I can move freely that’s fine.
Laïn laughed at that, of course a zeïfgon would not care about hairstyle being nicely done, just her not cutting it short was a miracle of sorts. No that the pr*** will be of the same mind, but with a bit of luck he wouldn’t run into her brother today.
– Done.
She was quick to wear her one-piece and picked a dagger he didn’t know existed to maintain. Today was the departure, or so he heard, that wasn’t the kind of information he would receive without letting his hear dragging. The belt was attached, and he let himself down on the only chair. Looking at her taking care of the blade was strangely soothing.
– So you’re going to the frontier ?
– Just for a month or so. She looked at him. Miss me ?
– Yeah.
His answer wasn’t that surprising, but it clearly left her perplexed, Laïn sighed.
– A month it’s long.
– Ho… here finished. She replied, giving him the dagger. If you use it, ask Nour to help with the rest. Tao wouldn’t be here either.
He really couldn’t just use it like that, even if he was sure he would need it. Which of their brains couldn’t keep up with the other was uncertain, it didn’t matter after all, thing were fine even like that.
Laïn took it while smiling, a month would be hard, but he could do it. Moreover, the pr*** would alsobe gone, making things a bit easier.
I have stumbled upon a general problem for the redraw and with the lack of motivation… it did’nt progress at all. And no much sketching done either, well I did finish the line for the precedent wip (5 aout) and tried to think about landscape.
ref : Robert Luckerman (Hope the name is wrote correctly, and I need to find the unsplash link, at least before I finish it)
I did misspell the name, it was Robert Lukeman.
But I did find the link here the pic used : Waterfalls at daytime photo – Image gratuite de Coucher de soleil sur Unsplash
Great job capturing the sunset in the rest of the landscape and characters.
Thanks ^^
Taken a break from drawing (sort of) and it helped clear my head on what to do with the redraw of an old illustration.
One thing that bugged me was the composition, long story short : in that case focusing on the character make it easier than doing a panorama. So I more or less keeped the old composition, but tried to add a meaning. And I can’t help but think I should do a second piece to show the evolution of the character and opposing meaning of the first one.
Since the piece is gory I’m not posting it whole, just the safe part.
And everything happened because I said “sc*** the house I’m redoing it”. It’s not that the result is great (I will definitevly redo it), but while doing it based more of the inside I just realized that as long I know what’s is the more important (the character, the meaning or whatever) I will be at minima okay with the result even if lacking in technique.
WIP, working a bit on background, that should be a easy one, but I find it more tiring.
And to celebrate the end of the redraw, I made Shwodwin as human… and for some reason he kind of look younger than last time.
