Call for Krita UI Redesign Plugin Testers

And new update!

  • Re-added border for push button (text buttons looked weird without it, but there’s still some issues)
  • Added tab separation after much popular demand :smiley: Still a bit buggy, but quite a large improvement!

That looks amazing! Can’t wait to try it out! :heart_eyes: Thank you so much for the hard work!

Very nice, thanks a lot! :slight_smile:

Edit: @slightlyangrydodo Do you think the inactive tab could be more obvious by for example making the font dark grey or something? So good to see this improvement here. :slight_smile:

Edit2:
Looks sooo good, especially combined with the Goth Themes from @Zoldyako ! The only thing I have turned off because it reads better right now this way is the toolbar back to the “old” toolbar. Also working on brushes right now for Concept Art / Illustration, that’s why I just posted a quick sketch. Testing the new look and my brushes. :slight_smile: Krita’s improving fast, I love it!

That seems like a good idea, I’ll look into it!

@slightlyangrydodo
I guess the red x in the dockers is hard coded, as I see no icons shipping with this plugin.

@TheFlow
I found out how you got the original toolbar

Yeah, the red x is something to be changed, for sure, thanks for the reminder!

Hi, I’ve been using this plugin for a couple of days, I think it’s great, thank you very much for this.

Thank you, that warms my heart!

Did you create brush icons, it’s not a package right? @slightlyangrydodo current brush icons are a bit outdated. I was thinking about real ones, digital ones while using them so I’m asking if there is a need to the traditional tool icons? Okay I said somethings here but thinking it can live a little more time. But those @TheFlow uses seems very pratical.

I’m not a fan of flat design so passing it in icons and going from skeuomorphic to neoskeuomorphic icons would be nice thinking there are strong rumors about Apple’s upcoming neoskeuomorphic design choices.

It seems very obivous but what about new eye-cons for layer hiding? Do you think about changing fonts?

I’ve never heard ´"skeumorphic" in my life, so that’s a new interesting term I’ve learned today :smiley: It’s important to notice that we’re bound by the framework in which Krita is written (Qt), so there are quite a few things that are just unfeasible.

Regarding fonts and icons, other than the close layer button that is temporary, I haven’t really looked into it. Can you give some visual examples inside Krita where you think different icons and/or fonts might look better?

Now I’m not sure how to apply any useful change.

Ekran görüntüsü 2020-11-19 002022 Bigger icons are better?

Ekran görüntüsü 2020-11-19 002244 change to lines?

Ekran görüntüsü 2020-11-19 002311 low resolution for texts.

You can see the differences here, it’s fun reading some history of design!

@slightlyangrydodo @V11 notice that you will be able to choose/change font and font size for the interface in the next Krita realease

What, seriously?! That’s amazing!

yes, you can already test it in the nightlies :wink:

Yep, look at my screenshot above from a few days ago, it’s from my 4k screen. It works really great and finally makes Krita fully usable for me :slight_smile:

That is excellent news, great work to everyone involved in this feature!

Should this be included on the Resources page - it looks like it works for most people, so I guess it should (for discoverability, for example)? Can you, either @Kapyia or @slightlyangrydodo make a MR for the Krita Manual? Alternatively I can do that when I have some time, but if you make it, it might be faster.

I don’t think it’s best doing that as of right now, as I still see at least two major things that I want to fix before starting that. Also, one thing, after I do a MR, if I have an update I have to do to the plugin, I’ll have to do a new MR with the update, correct?

Most of the links on the resource page lead to git repositories of plugin creators, so you don’t need to change anything there once you add a link.

I think you can safely add it there even now, as even with some issues it feels like one of the best add-ons from this list.
