Changes in Terms of Service of the forum - Related to AI image generation technology

As announced last week we are changing our policy towards AI image generators.

This week we will be updating our terms of service to reflect this change. You can read the existing term of service here. We are adding one more point in the content standard section.

The additional point is:

  1. This forum does not promote or want to be associated with AI image-generating tools or plugins or any image generated with AI technology as it is today. This forum is not the place to promote or showcase AI technology. And since the legality or ethical implications of current AI technology is not yet clear we do not want to host or give space to any of the content that promotes AI use. Users are free to debate about AI in the dedicated off topic thread but when adding images generated by AI please note that we do not understand the copyright implications of those images so the post might get removed.

The new terms will be added to the terms from 2023-10-15T18:30:00Z.
We hope this clears the stance well for the people signing up and also for the existing members

I have to agree. Thanks for letting us know.

I understand blocking the ai images, but was blocking the ai plugins necessary?

I think that some extra plugins for krita are never too harmful, especially the one using stablehorde which is open-source

Nobody is stopping anyone from developing or using such plugins with krita on their computer.

This forum is not the place to promote or showcase AI technology.

Anyone who wants to discuss it or collaborate or download anything related to it will have to find another forum or discussion place.

It is my understanding that plugins using AI which can arguably replace a large percentage of human-made process is not allowed here, and in this case, that means AI art stuff. I don’t think things like AI denoising or AI OCR is blocked here. G’MIC has few AI things in it, but as far as I know, active developers within G’MIC project aren’t going to do things like AI art, and as one, I have no plans to do it as I don’t think that’s ethical, but AI denoise and such is fine.
