Hi all! I’m very pleased to announce that the gap closing patch has been accepted to master today.
As usual, big thanks to @dkazakov for the review and many others for valuable comments.
We had to make some compromises and the feature is certainly not perfect, but it’s a start. I hope it will already be useful to everyone who’s been waiting for it for so long ![]()
Here are the temporary builds from master. Eventually, they will be available in Nightly builds (um, when they get restored!).
- Windows - Artifacts · windows-build (#1603482) · Jobs · Graphics / Krita · GitLab
- Linux - Artifacts · linux-build (#1603481) · Jobs · Graphics / Krita · GitLab
Again, the current features are:
- gap closing up to 32 pixels - larger gaps will be ignored (check the resolution!)
- only the bucket fill and magic wand selection tools are supported (i.e. no enclose and fill)
- look in the UI for a “Close Gap” slider. Values larger than 0 will attempt to close gaps. Set it back to 0 if you don’t need this feature, as it comes with a performance penalty.

If you have a chance to test it and run into a problem, feel free to tag me in your post. I hope we didn’t miss any bugs in the last minute as this one did see a significant churn over time…
Thank you! ![]()
