I can understand your wish, and I am sure that this functionality would make Krita much more attractive.
There are even already feature requests about this topic, so at least one (although it is a negative one
) :
However, the realization and complete implementation of this function will probably take some time, at least when I look at the fact that Krita apparently only has four full-time developers at the moment:
Also, the current switch to the new API Qt6, which together with wolthera’s mega project, the rewrite of the text tool in Krita, which she has been working on for (I think) ~ three years and is not yet finished, is tying up a lot of manpower and is not exactly accelerating other important wishes. But even our developers are only human. It’s admirable what they do for us, but they can’t do magic either, and their days only have 24 hours.
But the above doesn’t change how much Krita would benefit if your wish came true. It’s good that you’ve now taken up the baton and posted the feature request I suggested in the forum.
There are probably many who quietly wish for this function in Krita, okay, and there are also a few who even want to see it removed from Krita, see the negative feature request above. But I think the developers are deliberately not removing it from Krita, as a special kind of bookmark, to remind themselves to implement it one day.
But one thing is still unfinished, that someone who really wants to see this done, implements my second suggestion from the post to create a corresponding feature request in Krita’s bug tracker. This would officially put it on the developers’ plate, here we only discuss it, what it should have for features, how we want to see it implemented, such things, therefore your video is worth gold because it is showcasing what you want!
If you can generate more users who vote with you, you can show our developers that it is something the users want. Which is important too, why develop something nobody wants?
However, this will not change the fact that four developers will not be able to implement something like this as quickly as we know it from the world of commercial products from multi-million or even billion-dollar corporations such as Celsys, Corel, Adobe and others. To the best of my knowledge, Krita has up to €30.000 per month to cover all costs, but these are exceptional good months, usually, you can subtract a third from that, if I remember this correctly.
