Removal of Blending Options Tab-Panel in Layer Styles...

This “Blending Options” with the “Blend If” would be the very “graal” for people like me… BUT, why am I asking removal or replacement of this “tab” (see pic below)?

This Blending options/Blend-if mock-up in Layer Styles… (right click on a layer) can be very deceptive at first, and made us losing a lot of time by searching how to activate it when, like me, you are new to Krita.

And, Yes I know(now) that it is written “not implemented yet”, but nobody sees it at first glance (I did not see it for few days, it was a video on YT which point it out), you know how us, new users, how deeply blind we can be

For few days (before I finally opened my eyes) I came across videos, forums and so to see that this Blending Options mock-up was at least implemented from… 2017-2018 or so?!?
Also I read that it was far to be implemented… on a post of 2 months or 3 months old (may be less).

I don’t know about you, but I have no knowledge about any software (free or paid) having a function or an action as a mock-up in a STABLE release or even in beta (if so, please give the name of that software). Why? may be because it’s deceptive…

If removing this “tab” takes more time or code than expected, a replacement of the “mock-up settings” by something explaining the purpose or how to use the Layer Styles on the left panel would be great instead, a bit like the mock-up below (and may be, you can put in “comment” the already made code, if any).
…Until this Blending Options will be truly implemented…

Thanks a lot reading, that was just a thought, just my humble opinion, have a great day.

fully agreed! here we are a year and a half later and this unsightly thing is still here.

It’s a shame too because implementing blend if would be a knockout punch to PS and a much needed one-up over csp’ sorry layer styles

Hi

Everybody here want to see bugs fixed and miscellaneous improvement implemented
Everybody here consider his own needs as a priority over the other

But there’s only 9~10 developers and a (very) low monthly budget…

i don’t appreciate having my thoughts deflected and i don’t think it’s unreasonable to say removing a confusing UI that has been sitting there for 2 years is asking too much.

I just quoted what you wrote
If you don’t appreciate being quoted, I’m sorry… :man_shrugging:

What I said was just there’s so many requests by so many people that it’s not possible for developers to take in account all requests.

That’s a reality.

Also, this is just a forum were you can ask and talk about things than a formal place to request for something.
Maybe if topic is liked and many users interact, a developer can start to be interested by the subject.
Otherwise the subject will be forgotten.

If you really need/want/expect something to be implemented/fixed, the only way you have is to formalize the feature request properly in bug tracker.
If it’s not properly tracked, you can be sure it won’t never be taken in account.

I didn’t took a look in bug tracker to check if something has been created for that, but I’m pretty sure not.

the category of the forum is called feature requests…
done talking about this

I would also like to see these added. Found them greyed out a few versions ago when looking for what options krita had, then a few versions later when they had not changed I came to ask what was happening with them and the forum directed me to this thread.

I think these settings would be quite useful personally and it seems like people keep going looking for them.

Having them there with the message that they’re not implemented yet saved me the trouble of looking for them in other places, which I suspect was the intended goal.

Perhaps what’s needed to avoid problems like OP’s is not removing the section, but making the “not implemented” text easier to notice.

If you delete it, someone may ask “where are blending options” in the future……
It should not be easy to realize this function. As far as I know, Photoshop mixes “Opacity” and “fill” in many places. And they are used in many places.

any chance this function will be implemented? Seeing that this was requested 3 year ago doesn´t look very promissing I guess, but I will love to have it, its super useful. I mean, the tab is there, they are putting the candy in my mouth but… :frowning:

 Hello @Daranart and welcome to the forum!

To see this feature in Krita, it would need support. This means someone has to make a feature request topic where it has to be asked to implement it in Krita.
Not long ago, I suggested this to another new user asking in principle the same question, you can find that topic here:

So, as long as nobody creates that suggested feature request to fully implement this feature, and additionally creates this request in a way that everyone reading that request will want this feature too, the chance is low to see it in the foreseeable future.
Then the one creating this request does not forget to vote for its own feature, in its opening post on the left of the heading.
As you see, it has to be written as you want to sell gold for the prize of bread, or in other words you have to make good PR for your wish, and you have to find supporters who vote for it too, then there is a real chance to see it in Krita. Unfortunately, Krita is currently preparing to change the underlying API on which it is based, and that is a huge task which has to be completed first before bigger projects like the one you are asking for will be tackled. But, if no one begins to collect supporters, votes and, very important, ideas how it could be implemented, a thing you can do if it is about Open Source Software, then one thing is sure, nothing will happen.
So, are you the one who will make this request, the one who brings movement into the rock so it gets a rolling stone instead of standing in your way?
