I have run all of the general Windows command prompts. I fixed my C drive and checked for corrupted files. I uninstalled and reinstalled Krita. Nothing is fixing it. Upon opening Krita on my windows PC the program lags horribly to the point I cannot actually use it. eventually it will catch up to itself but I only get a couple seconds of use after that. I am at a loss for what is wrong or what else I can try to do to get the program to work.
I confirmed that my drivers are up to date, uncorrupted, and my Windows is fully updated as well.
Can you help us understand “I fixed my C drive”? Does that mean there was a problem with your PC that required repair? Was Krita running ok before you had to implement that fix?
When you reinstalled Krita, did you also manually remove the files from appdata after running the Windows uninstall routine?
I’m trying to think of all the info that could lead to a solution.
No there was no “problem” with the C drive. When i contacted tech support to see if my computer was the issue they told me to run that command and that did not fix my problem. So they sent me here instead because they ruled out the computer being the issue.
Krita wasn’t working before i started everything I did.
Before I downloaded the newest version
Before I updated windows
Before I checked my drivers.
Krita was not working before I did any of that, and is still not working now.
I also downloaded the “debug symbols” folder from the update and that also had no effect
yes i manually removed all of the folders before reinstalling
found the problem
Had to disable the Canvas Graphics Acceleration in Settings → Configure Krita… → Display
and now it works
Can you share how many GB RAM your device has and the usual canvas size?
You may get more questions from others besides me to help determine why your device is having a problem with Krita.
EDIT: just saw your solution.
Interesting, this normally makes things lag more, at least things like, zooming, panning and rotating. Might be that the selected renderer had issues with your computer’s graphics card or the graphics card’s driver wasn’t installed properly.
Actually there is a similar thread, maybe have a look there as well:
usual canvas size 1000 x 1000
ram on my graphics card 16GB
ram on my pc 128GB
not sure about installation since my pc is a custom build
but the things you are describing (rotating and zooming) is exactly what was lagging so horribly i couldnt use the program until i turned off the Canvas Graphics Acceleration
Now it’s not lagging at all
