Cursor sticks for a small distance on UI elements not on canvas

Type of device* : Wacom 16 pen display
Brand and version of the device: Wacome 16 latest driver form wacom software
System** : Windows 64-bit - build 22631/version 10.0.22631

Description of the issue (you can include screenshots):

When I try to change color by dragon my mouse over the color selector or drag my mouse over a slider.

It seems like there is a small area where my mouse sticks (does not move with my pen) for a small distance and then jumps to follow the pen again, Does any one know of a way to fix this issue.

This problem also happened on the regular version and the Beta that I now use

Is Krita set to use the Windows Ink driver or WinTab and is your Wacom set to use the same driver (meaning both use Windows Ink or both do not use Windows Ink)?

Disable hold-to-right-click deep in the pen&tablet settings.

And you can also check if this helps with any minimal lag:

Wait I did not know you could set your tablet to either one, because if I use Wintab I don’t have any pressure sensitivity.

Do you know how to do that for your drawing tablet

That was a hard setting to find thank you,
It did make the dead-zone smaller but it is still very much there, but that did help with other minor issues I had so thank you for the tip

Hi thanks for the information, it is not useful for me specifically.

But I do hope it can help others

The thing with ‘‘WinTab’’ and ‘‘Windows 8+ Pointer Input (Windows Ink)’’ APIs¹ is that it has to be the same setting in Krita and in your tablet driver. That is, to let your tablet and Krita speak the same language.

The settings in Krita are found via ‘‘Settings’’ >> ‘‘Configure Krita’’ >> ‘‘Tablet Settings’’ and the setting for your driver is usually found in the driver where you set up your pen.
But before making these settings, you should create profiles for every software you use with your tablet, this not only allows adapting it better to the software you use, this also avoids conflicts where software X uses a different shortcut-scheme than software Y and such things.

It may be unpleasant and sound like a bit of work, but the hassle you’ll avoid in the future when interacting with other software more than makes up for it. In addition, you can usually save your profiles, which saves you a lot of work if you have to update your driver, or you have changed something and the profiles have been lost or damaged by accident.²

Usually ‘‘Windows Ink’’ is set by default in your driver, if that is the case, then you have to set it in Krita too, so there you have to select ‘‘Windows 8+ Pointer Input (Windows Ink)’’, confirm the dialog with OK and restart Krita.
But since Krita usually, but not always, likes ‘‘WinTab’’ better, you should disable ‘‘Windows Ink’’ in your driver and enable ‘‘WinTab’’ in Krita, again you have to confirm the dialog with OK and restart Krita.
Or in short: You have to have ‘‘WinTab’’ enabled on both sides (driver and Krita) or ‘‘Windows 8+ Pointer Input (Windows Ink)’’ on both sides.
Usually this has solved most issues.³

¹API = Application Programming Interface

²In the past this was unfortunately often very inconvenient with cheaper brands like Gaomon, and yet it’s worth the work.

³But in case it did not fix your issue:
In all the years I try to support other users, there were only two or three occurrences where users stated the only way that worked for them was to mix these two APIs. If that is true or if they only lost oversight, I can not say, but if the above hints don’t help, you may want to try it.
Who knows, maybe you are the next one?

So, if you are one of the extremely rare cases where both settings do not work, you can try the cross-combination of these settings, it can not break anything, the only thing here is that it can refuse working too.
So enable ‘‘Windows 8+ Pointer Input (Windows Ink)’’ on one side, let’s say in your driver, and ‘‘WinTab’’ on the other side, so in Krita.
If this first try did also not help, you can try it vice versa. But do not forget, after every change in Krita’s Tablet Settings, you have to confirm the dialog with OK and restart Krita.

Yes that worked like a champ, thank you so much. It did take a lot of digging around to find the windows ink setting on my driver but it worked great for me.

Thank you and everyone for the help.

You’re welcome!
