A thread to share my speedpaintings studies and experimentations, and a wish to get better with time at it.
Wonderful!!
These are WIP?
@kacart Thanks!
@raghukamath No, the paintings are finished; but a bit in the spirit of digital sketches and studies. I opened the thread in Work in Progress because I saw many other had their Sketchbook thread in this category. That’s what I’m planning to do with future updarte. Maybe I should rename the title to “Deevad’s digital sketchbook”?
The mood conveyed is just Chef’s Kiss
Ray tracing: enabled
What time limits do you usually set yourself for your different speedpaintings?
@APoeticHeart : Thanks!
My sweet spot is often somewhere between 45min to 1h30. Sometime 2h when I struggle and that was the case with the one I made for communicating tomorrow about a future signing session in Toulouse, 2h. (Reference photo here).
Wow 45 minutes is pretty tight. I need to practice more.
Amazing
Give me 45 days, not hours
That’s what I was thinking…
Here is a 40min random cool-down session after finishing the comissions of today. A scuba diver with a kraken or something alike (very original theme, right? brain on autopilot surprises me ). No ref.
I tried with this one to crash 5.1(beta1) appimage using all the dangerous Krita combos usually known to be fragile, but it kept surprisingly stable.
I detailed today an old sketch to test something technical about painting (and also to keep beta testing Krita 5.1beta1).
The goal of this test illustration was to study the contrast of detailing; leaving part brushed and heavy textured on one side, and to detail with a lot of care focus point on the other side. (here, the face of Shichimi).
It took long (a solid 5h), no ref.
A two hours one; to announce an upcoming signing session. It is a paint-over a photo originaly shot by jcb-caz-11 on Wikimedia Commons, CC-By-Sa license.
I really like to pick a photo, open Gmic “Stylise” filter, and stylise the photo with a preset (eg. Monet , built-in). It quickly transforms the photo in a solid base to paint-over.
A 30min study this evening to cool down.
(from a photo ref)
Awesome Sketchbook @Deevad
Another speep paint-over above a photo of Boston from Wikimedia (attribution on the footer of the image) and Gmic Stylise filter on the top.
Context of the painting: for everyone in or near Boston (USA), I’ll be around at the end of the month (30/31 August)! If you have any ideas about the organisation of a meeting, a signing session, a pleinair sketch group, or a Krita workshop, contact me. It’s first time I’ll visit US!
Nicely woks! Gz
Thanks @p1xel
Here is another one, a study about values, but also DOF effect and pushing a bit the modeling I do over my OC. Hard to get a ‘natural light’ feeling.
hi, your work is getting better every day, I always follow your krita videos they help me a lot
