Do you know any useful shortcuts for beginners?

Hello, I’ve been using krita for a short time and I would like to know some useful shortcuts. I already know the basic like

  • zoom in

  • zoom out
    m - mirror
    most of the tool ones
    and [insert] - new layer
    but like, is there any shortcut to rotate the canvas or clear a whole layer without deleting it?
    What other useful shortcuts are there?

shortcuts like control z is my number one priority and space for pan

Shortcut’s I use pretty often:

  • middle mouse button on pen + shift or control for zoom and rotation while moving the pen.
  • middle mouse button on pen to pan
  • DEL key to clear layer
  • ctrl to sample color
  • R key to select layer based on canvas content
  • Shift key + mouse/pen drag to change brush size
  • ctrl + T for transform tool
  • 1, 2 and 3 key to center and and zoom image to fit screen
  • 0 key to reset rotation

Basically just find out what you do often and look into Krita’s settings if there’s a shortcut for it. Chances are there is.

In addition to the above tip for using Ctrl to sample color, you can use Ctrl+Alt to sample color from multiple layers. This is useful because you just sample what you see on screen.

This shortcut can be reversed in Configure Krita >Canvas Input Settings > Alternate Invocation
